Oh, okay, I like this a lot! Yes, this would've been cool, especially since Collector technology already went into the making of Grunt and that could've been pivotal to the story, as well.

Also - the idea that one of the dossiers could be for a person who has developed technology that can make humans immune to indoctrination is a brilliant idea, and one you are to be commended for.

I think one of the things you would have to deal with is why this group of people. Why recruit a group of laypeople? A group you have to buy, break out of jail, that are not loyal, not trained, don't wear...armor. lol Why not the 11 most kick-ass soldiers? The 11 most kick-ass Seals, or whatever they call spec ops in the ME universe. How about 11 Spectres? The way it's handled it's almost as if the appearance of these teammates was the most important thing, rather than the context.

That's because the appreance was.  They used concept art to drive the story telling instead of storytelling to inspire the concept art.  I think they were forced to do this however since some fcking moron let the lead writer from ME1 go.

Actually Grunt wasn't immune to the genophage at all. EDI mentions this.

I must admit, I fast forwarded through all the convo on that quest. It bored me. What was Grunt's point then?

it's all about Korgan peen.  Grunt is supposed to be the perfect krogan and only perfect krogan deserve to survive the genophage.  Tip of the spear that sort of thing.  It was overly dramatic and poorly written so I don't blame you for skipping it.

Really! I must have misunderstood then. How exactly does the krogan species thrive without either curing the genophage or becoming immune to it? I'm confused. What is the point of Grunt? Can he get a semi-sterile girl krogan preggers reliably or not?

Supposedly Grunt has the genophage added into him on purpose and the idea isn;t to cure the genophage but to create a race of Krogan so powerful that they "climb utop the bodies of the dead" or some such thing to victory.  OKeer has this whole dialogue set about how curing the genophage doesn't make strong krogan but every child born is coddled like it's special whether it is weak or not.

Go read Lord of the Rings again, building the fellowship is almost no different than having files on potential recruits and going and finding them. Basically it is we have to stop in these places and pick up these people who will be useful because they are the best at what they do.

Dude. DUDE. Please. No comparison, except MAYBE in the inclusion of that certain elf, who wasn't completely embedded in the story. But even still, inclusion of everyone had the one important necessity of having a rep from all major races. ME doesn't have near the level of complexity in pretext. Not nearly. It's almost blasphemous to make the comparison.

Holy crap did you just make a fake Fellowship analogy?  Someone get me a rope and I'll start the fire.

Really though have you read the books in the last 20 years?  You seem to be missing a large peace of the puzzle.  The fellowship was formed because those characters were brought together in previous story arcs and they all intertwine later into over arching story elements that are quite complex.  The complexity of the over arching story elements in tokken's writing is remarkable to say the least.  You insult his memory by making up this random crap and pretending you understand the artform.

Oh, Zenn…

You have valid points that you present tactlessly.

It was a poor analogy because the story of the Fellowship of the Ring did not revolve around character recruitment, and ME2 does.

Characters in LOTR were encountered and picked up along the way, as the story progressed, NOT in place of the story, and the team itself was assembled WAY earlier on.

The plot progressed from there.

Who needs tact. The results are the same either way so why bother with format?

Really though the story brought the characters together in LoTR. The characters attempt to bring the story together in ME2, and that is why it doesn't work. The story owns the characters, not the other way around.

If you would read your codex, you would realize that they are not "ammo" clips. They contain no ammo. They are used to release heat into a capsule to cool weaponry in order to allow more shots fired per minute. Reusable and much more efficient.

You have no idea.  I tried to go back and fix the formatting but no matter what I do it either breaks the forum table or randomly assigns formatting to different parts of the post makin it look like a loosly strung together pile of garbage.

we're lucky it is as clean as it is.  And no if I try to remove the bold it breaks the formatting....  weird thing is I never bolded it and attempted to copy text only....

Ok I'll admit it probably has been almost 20 years since I read it because of how painful the Silmarrillion was to read. :P

It isn't really that fake an analogy. All I am saying that it doesn't matter how knowledge that someone is going to be useful is gotten, they are still useful. So what that in Tolkien's (and please at least get the name right - I can get indignant over non-issues too!) story it came from personal experience as opposed to intelligence gathering in ME2 (keeping in mind that Tali was recruited solely based on personal experience and TIM never intended her to be a part of the team). It is still bringing together a group who has the required skills. Yes their backstory (and the continuation of their individual stories) is integrated better into the world that doesn't change the fact they were in the fellowship because they could help it, just like the characters in ME2 are part of the team because they help it.

Why, people who want to criticize do.

You’re right about most of the things you say, but because of the way you say them your good points can come off as flaming.

Bashing, going on about how writers are stupid, insults and criticisms and all this… these are the things that make a troll out of a truth-sayer.

Yeah but there is nothing riding on my presentation or my tact. In fact (heh I crack me up) tact itself isn't generally effective in furthering a conversation. I don't much care how someone else thinks you should appear to me. What is important is the content. The meat. That lump of **** I might accidentally step in and be forced to clean off or deal with the smell from.

Tact generally limits the conversation to a struggle between presentations and that my friend couldn't be any less useless to me.

that coming from a man who's posting in the storyline and campaign section even though he thinks writer should be fired for making this plot
