This. There's a persuade check in Awakening that, if it goes through, I'm almost positive that Varel and Garavel are making fun of the PC's ability to win others over with a ridiculously minimal amount of effort.

Alistair: Do you get the feeling she has no idea where she's going....?
Wynne: Yes, and she seems to have never heard of the phrase "excuse me".
Leliana: She almost knocked me off of the bridge in Orzammar, and didn't even apologize, or hug me, or play with my hair!
Alistair: Yeah, the other day she plowed me down to go do that scary face thing at some ogre. What is that about anyway? And why do they always fall for it, cowering in fear like they're not 13 times her size? Why don't they cower when I look at them?
Sten: Hmph. She is about as intimidating as a weed.
Shale: And as easy to crush.
Sten: Yet we're the ones left in camp every day.
Zevran: You're not missing much, trust me. Just the getting lost, and the looting. Oh, the looting. You would think she would get tired of reaching her hand into every corpse she stumbles over, but apparently pulling a bloodied iron ring from some dead genlock's stomach never loses its charm.
Leliana: And Zevran, you know she's just using us for the lock-picking.
Zevran: Of course. And the looting would not be so bad; it earns us gold and the gold buys fancy things. But what good does that do any of us? She's just going to take the new stuff for herself and hand off her bloody weapons and sweaty armor to the next in line.
Morrigan: At least you receive anything new. I've had the same staff since I met her a year ago and she refuses to give me the robes she found in Mother's hut, and for no reason besides utter laziness. I just know they are in her pack, probably wadded up under all of the toys she hides from Alistair.
Alistair: She...hides toys from me?
Morrigan: And booze from the dwarf. But that is a good thing.
Oghren: *rouses from drunken stupor* WARDEN!!
Morrigan: Do not even bother, dwarf. You can get as angry as you want now, but it is ultimately futile.
Oghren: Whatcha mean by that?
Wynne: The Warden has something called..."coercion". That, along with a seemingly endless supply of objects that we all love, makes it almost impossible to for any of us to dislike her, no matter how rude, or selfish, or weak, we might find her or her actions.
Alistair: And apparently I'm so easy that I don't even need stuff.
Leliana: *giggles* That's not what I heard.
Morrigan: ...and on that note, I am going to go vomit.
Surely, your conversations rock.
*edit* Ok, this thread has me in stitches. Well done, all! <3

Alistair: Hey, don't talk to her like that. She's my friend and a Grey Warden, just like me. And she's your future Queen!
PC: That's right! Guards! Off with her head!
I really, really, really want to be able to do that. I mean, you have no idea.

Or even a "And, trust me, these incredibly expensive swords are not just for show."
I like Skadi's idea of blowing her gold at The Pearl before doing Alistair's quest and it would be awesome to bring it up.
Goldanna: You, marching in here with your fancy armor and this is all you have to offer me? You must think I'm very stupid.
PC: Actually, I do think you're stupid and I did have some gold. Tons in fact. But I decided to blow it on she-males and kinky nug sex rather than give any to you.
Alistair: I don't know what to say. To either of you.
PC: Maybe I should also avoid mentioning that it's sad that, in a world where arterial spray is as common as house-flies, a laundress can't make a better living.
Alistair: Probably, yes.

Obviously, she's not a very good laundress! Attempts to connive money from her customers, and scared them all away. Harpy harpy harpy! (Can we tell I'm not so fond of Goldanna? No, not at all...."
Also, I can't imagine that she wins over many customers with her charming attitude towards foreigners.
Oh, Goldanna. I hope, someday, we get to smack you.

PC: As a matter of fact, yes.
Alistair: Right. Go ahead.
PC: Whilst in battle, when you bellow, "FOR THE GREY WARDENS!" it is all in rousing good fun. But in a more intimiate context, might you try a different tag line?
Alistair: What? I say that during...?
PC: Yes.
Alistair: And this bothers you?
PC: Actually, no. This is just a 'round about way to coerce you into saying, 'Maker, but you're beautiful,' as an alternative.
Alistair: Right. Your wish is my command. <does the undies-melting eyed-narrowed gaze>

Actually, Wynne sort of does this. It's part of the reason I really like her. I think a few others (Alistair asks you if someone close to you has died I think, and Leliana asks something I believe. Not sure who else) ask you like one question each, but then go right back to talking about themselves.AwesomeEffect2 wrote...
Anyone: (to the PC) are you feeling alright?
But there are lots of conversations about *you* that you can have with Wynne, regarding your past, your present relationships (I know there are at least a couple about PC/Morrigan at least), and your future ("I'll never lead a normal life, will I?").
Just makes it all the more disappointing to meet up with her again in Awakening. It's like "Oh hey, nice to see you. Could you go run this tedious errand for me? Thanks. No, I won't be here when you get back."

Alistair only asks that if you're human. If not he just asks about how your species deals with its dead, which was kind of annoying because my DN's brother just died so regardless of what their relationship was it would have been nice to have been able to mention it.Alistair asks you if someone close to you has died I think,

I'm pretty sure he's asked me that, and I play a City Elf. I've had a Dwarf just for the noble origin, and a HNF for that origin, but otherwise it's been a Dalish Elf first, then a City Elf, and now I'm repeating the City Elf (long story).Sarah1281 wrote...

There might be another conversation about rituals, but I'm pretty sure I remember because one possible answer (for a City Elf) is to tell him about your mother dying. (And then of course he goes "oh, sorry 'bout that. Anyway, back to me...I miss Duncan, boo hoo.")

If just one person said that or something like "are you okay", then they would immediately get +25 approval from me

In the case your PC is a female Human Noble and romancing Alistair, with the intention of being queen at the end. I might be the only one who thinks this way, but I always thought that your Human Noble, guy or girl, should have known Cailan BEFORE Ostagar. The Couslands are second in line only to the royal family, correct? So wouldn't you think that the Cousland children would have met the royal family before now...since the game says nobles drag their children with them to the Landsmeet with the intention of marrying them off. Maybe even been friends with Cailan, given the closeness in their ages. Do we really believe that Anora is the ONLY woman who had contact with Cailan amongst the noble families, promised to him or not? Highly unlikely.
Alistair: You did it again.
PC: Did what?
Alistair: Last night, you did it again.
PC: Did WHAT?
Alistair: You know very well what. You called me Cailan.
PC: WHAT?! I did no such thing.
Alistair: Did too.
PC: You're imagining things.
Alistair: Am not. You said "Cai...lan."
PC: (awkwardly) I didn't say "Cai...lan." I said "a..gain."
Alistair: Not how I heard it.
PC: Honey, don't be ridiculous. (patting Alistair's arm) It's in the past.
Alistair: "IN THE PAST?!" What's IN the past?
PC: (sheepishly) Er...nothing.
Alistair: Maker's breath! Does this mean that...that you and Cailan... With my brother?!
PC:(turning red) I said...no such thing.
Alistair: It DOES, doesn't it? Andraste's Ashes...is that why you're WITH me?! Because I LOOK like him?
PC:(chuckling) Don't be ridiculous, sweetie...
Alistair: (angrily) There's that ridiculous word again.
PC: ...I don't think of Cailan EVERY time I'm with you.
Alistair: WHAT?!
PC: Oh, look, a Revenant! We should probably go kill it now. (rushes off)
Alistair: This just can't get more disturbing.
Morrigan: Your royal brother's lovechild is among us.
Alistair: Right. Thank you. It just got more disturbing.
Zevran: If you would permit me, my good friend, Alistair, to address a silver lining to this...admittedly very dark cloud: Grey Wardens cannot have children with each other, yes? If your brother's lovechild is, in fact, among us, this way you can have an heir to your royal throne who looks enough like you to pass it off as yours.
Morrigan: That does sound plausible, if you intend to have our fearless leader as your queen.
Alistair: Hey...see that tower over there...(with an angry look)...go jump off of it, both of you.
Morrigan: And the points keep coming.
Zevran: (laughing) They certainly do.
Leliana: You both have no shame.
Morrigan: And you're just figuring this out now?

Alister: Morrigan gave her a feast day present.
Zev: Ah knowing Morrigan it would be quite ... memorable.
Alister: It's some kind of harnass it looks like a chastity belt except it... lets her be ...The Man
Zev: Ah you are a lucky man Alister I am quite jealous.
PC's Voice: Alister ... You've been a naughty Grey Warden and you know what happens to naughty Grey Wardens
Alister: Maker's Mercy... not the riding crop again?
Zev: you know Alister this might be defined as an example of be careful what you wish for as you just might get it in the end.
Alister: if I'm lucky that's the only place I'll get it
