Oh yes, this drove me nuts. I remember pulling out the SMG a few times too, which was less wince-inducing because at least my Shepard could USE that one...but she only seemed to do it in situations where the SMG did not look at all cool in the context of the scene. I would have loved to whip out the hand cannon during cutscenes, I used that thing to death.

Yeah I have noticed this amazing appearing/disappearing assault rifle. I've seen my Adept whip out an assault rifle, during a cutscene, when obviously I have no such one equipped. A little strange that Bioware let that happen.

...Actually gave my Adept an AR on the Collector's ship for this very reason. :P

Yeah its a little jarring, you'd think they'd just go with pistols, since everyone has those.

Unfortunately it looks like AR makes every scene look badass.....

I can't help but a feel a bit bemused whenever a cutscene kicks in, where my Biotic Commando-style vanguard shepard, rather than pull out any of his guns, magics a bog-standard assault rifle to use. It got even better later on, when the rest of the team learned the magic spell.

Are the cutscenes pre-rendered? Or is it just a static declaration somewhere in game's guts that dictate what gun he uses?

Well, he feels the need to do this during the cutscenes, because he forgets how to use his biotics.

The funny part about the Assault rifle in cut scenes is that only one class even carries it as standard equipment.
