According to the new gamespot preview you get to strategically decide which new recruits undertake the joining and where to deploy your troops.

Now this is the first time I heard you get to decide who does the joining, and I have NO idea what they mean by you get to decide where to deploy your troops.

I wonder if the latter is hinting at kind of a NwN2 keep situation, which would be awesome!

I admit to never playing NwN at all..... please be gentle with me, I'm a dear soul, and an excellent little rogue, honest!

BUT: Doesn't that sound fabulous? I am guessing/betting/hoping ( feel free to choose at will) that our decisions will play out over a longer haul than just this expansion. Perhaps that is too much to hope for, or perhaps I think too much ( ok that much is true anyway!) but it's still very cool.

Is it wrong that I want to get to know people first and initiate those I like the least? Probably. Oh well. I will live with myself :)

You deciding who takes the joining is cool. The other thing, I honestly don't get the point of it but whatever, bring it out.

More strategy is always good. But I felt the sentence was too vague. Hopefully devs will shed light on this asap.

Expect an NWN2 keep situation. You've got a keep. You've got lots of Darkspawn. And you have limited 'generals' in the form of Grey Wardens who survive the joining.

It's gonna happen.

Sounds kinda cool and all but why use the Joining ritual if there is no Archdemon?

The only benefit is that they'll get the ability to sense Darkspawn, but is it worth the risk?

So only 1 companion is going through the joining? What happens if he dies? Man that as a lot of potential to be very interesting.

Maybe there is some kind of army mini-game to "deploy your troops", or maybe there's a big scale battle at the end and you make the tactical choices. Also sounds interesting ;)

I Conscript this entire town. That's right, everybody form a line to drink tainted blood, no pushing now. Now, first, I would like to ask you not to panic as it is likely only 15% of you will survive this, but we need new recruits and we need them now. Also, we have a blueberry flavor tainted blood for the kids.

A good strategic romp is still a good romp. :) Romps are good. I don't necessarily prefer it because i have a lot of fun with the romance also, not sure I hold any preference at all really as I just like to have some fun where I can find it, but yes, this sounds great - can't wait to see how it plays out.

Well we know that isn't gonna happen, at most it will be a NwN2 type situation.

If you get to choose who joins...perhaps that means that you cannot have all the characters at once (like Alistair and Loghain)

I don't think you'd have a choice in the matter.  Silly little dwarf probably thinks its alcohol and drinks it before you even get the chalice ready.  :D

Me thinks gamespot may have mixed something up. It sounds so cool that I'm sure bioware would have advertised it as a feature rather then not mention it ever. But who knows

As do I. Putting your comrades through the joining, that's gonna' be an ugly moral quandary. I don't want to risk anyone dying, but this is something that needs to be done. :crying:

It's been 400 years since the Fourth Blight, and the Grey Wardens have still kept their numbers up, and the Taint was the only way that they were able to sense the Fifth one. So yes, the Joining is necessary. There must always be Wardens available to keep up the vigil, and to be there once the next Archdemon awakens.

I hope you can choose any and all comapnions to undertake their ritual; but their chances of success should be a mix of things - 1. random chance 2. the makeup of the characetr themselves 3. loyalty to you (since mor.e faith in you the more they allow themselevs to sccumb to you).

There should also be a choice NOT to have anyone take the ritual, and should be conseuqences (both good and bad) eithe rway. Some companions should also outright refuse to undergo it then you have to decide to force them to undertake. Also, if you do, there should be a chance that a_)they grudingly accept it B) they escape when they get a chance and you just made yourself an enemy long term.

R00fles!

C&C is where it's at! NO MERCY!!
