Well, as Commander of the Grey in Amaranthine, you don't want just anyone joining, do you?

Maleficarum, apostates, tyrants, insane generals, templar clowns, thieves, murderers, and so on. Ya, the Grey Wardens seem pretty exclusive, they don't just let anybody in!Posted Image

Whoever can fight and survives the tainted blood is good to go apparently. Hold a tournament in some random town: Congrats! You win! Now drink this taint; you now have 30 years or less to live. All the rest of the fighting contestants, you also win a chance with the taint, line up!

Edit: Not much loyalty, but plenty of fodder for the darkspawn.
I'm joking about all of this of course, I play nice heroes.Posted Image

He had a daughter at least, dunno about son.

To clarify, in the dungeon on your way to confront Howe, you rescue that noble's son, and he says that Howe's son, Thomas had no role in what Howe did.

This is awesome. Everyone is like, "I'm gonna regret buying this" and stuff like that - not me :D This keeps getting better and better.

Sounds kinda cool and all but why use the Joining ritual if there is no Archdemon?

The only benefit is that they'll get the ability to sense Darkspawn, but is it worth the risk?

They can sense Darkspawn and won't die from the taint or become a ghoul... right away, therefore making them much, much more effective fighters against Darkspawn in the current time. While you are putting a time limit on your life, you're also gaining benefits that make you a specialized fighter against Darkspawn.

this is actually the first good news i heard about Awakening since the announcement of the game itself. i hope they make it like ME2, so that if you don't care about a certain character or don't do certain things, he/she might die in the joining

Not necessarily, knowing Oghren. ;)

Yeah, this sounds really cool. Being able to actually induct people into the Wardens was something I wanted to do in the first game but really couldn't. I hope you can try to do it to some people only for it to fail, that would be interesting.

And deploying troops sounds cool as well. Wonder how exactly that works.

Just toss the vial in the village well. That village will be ready for the darkspawn within a week, either empty or resistant to the taint.

Oh, wow. If that's the case, I'm going to find it a much more difficult thing to do than deciding about the dark ritual... Ouch. I had a feeling it would come to that when Alistair was talking about recruiting new grey wardens in Origins, but wasn't sure if they would just hand us recruits who'd passed for the expansion.

Hmm... so do the ones you choose automatically survive the ritual? Or some do and some don't? Or it's random everytime? I'm interested to see how they handle this.

This is great news, I'm agonizing over what I'll do already. Do I go old school Grey Warden on them and just force everybody into the joining ritual or just the willing? Decisions, decisions.

Awww', so we can't maliciously force any and every villager in Thedas to drink of tainted blood as you conquer Orlais with an army of Grey Wardens ?

Think bigger. What better way to rile the Chantry than to start conscripting Templars en masse? I'd start with that group chasing the apostate. Heart attacks are on the House. Posted Image

This is exciting. A step forward for the "defend Redcliffe" idea? Neat.
