The YouTube clip St Mael posted was definitely one of the bright spots of Dragon Age but I still feel Mass Effect 2 and even the first game were better. ME is like an amalgam of every great Sci-Fi book or show you've ever read or watched and when you factor in that the protagonist is a character of your own creation (or can be), it makes the game that much more irresistible, at least IMO. They're both great games regardless, however...

I like Final Fantasy II on Super Nintendo because Cecil was in it.

Damn right, plus his sprite looked like Tom Cruise, so that game was full of win.

Not to mention his sword was LEGEND

They are even in most every respect (to me) expect genre and time frame and they are the only two series' that I will be playing for the next few months prob.

I liked them both character-wise. I hated ME1 from a character standpoint, half the characters pissed me off, and the ones I kinda liked had like 2 lines of dialogue.

Mass Effect 2 = Dragon Age > Mass Effect 1.

Cecil as a squadmate in ME3 and DA:O 2.

I'm going out on a limb here and say that the ones you liked were Tali and Garrus. Am I right?

I'd rather take Golbez as squadmate in DA 2.  His armor looked pretty badass.

Cecil had better hair though.  (Not that we got to see Golbez's hair in FF2/4 now that I think about it...)

I srsly hate dragon age, it is the worst ****ing rpg i have ever played after fallout3.

Why, no guns?

Mommy!!! I can't shoot anybody, WWAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Huh? Fallout3 has lots of guns :)

Person probably hasn't played Fallout 3 and they themselves wanted guns really badly in DA and were reanacting the moment they found out there wasn't an option to turn your Warden into a Human Noble Commando.

Ok now I'm totally inexplicably, confused. Image IPB
I've played both, as a matter of fact...............enjoyed both, for different reasons. That's how it is, folks! (That's a great reason for Steam) Image IPB
I was referring to the post about, how there was no guns in DA:O, and unable to shoot anybody, because of it.

See, now if that had actually happened no one would be dissing Kanye, they'd have gived him a standing ovation.

Because that quote is full of truth!

EDIT: Basically what they should do is import all of the characters from Square Soft's 16 bit RPGS into DA 2 because Square Enix isn't going to do anything remotely as awesome with that content.

I think ME2 has more interesting characters (with the exception of Morrigan) but the conversations with those characters are written better in DA. The dialogue wheel does hamper them a bit.

Compared to ME1, I would say your crazy. ME2 blows DAO of the water in terms of graphics and gameplay, but in terms of story DAO has ME2 beat.

ME2 lacked the amazing dramatic moments that ME1 and DAO are filled with.

Exactly.

I can't ever remember a time when I had two games this good at the same time, and if they keep pumping out DLC it's going to last for all of 2010.  2011's going to be crazy with another DA game, another ME something and The Old Republic.

Character-wise both games are equal. They have both an annoying b*tch on the Team. DAOs Morrigan is ME2s Miranda :D

Well ofcourse I was talking about ME2. ME1 is right up there with DA, Tali was actually a great character in the first game but she was ruined by the second one and the rabid mob of kids that obsess over her.

I enjoyed ME2 far more than I did DA:O, and I grew up with Baldur's Gate 1/2. DA:O. None of the characters that weren't comic relief really stood out, and the main enemy was pretty much just one big horde of cannon fodder.

Woah. I agree that Tali does not need a thread of people pining over her the possibility of a crotch shot, but Tali in my opinion is still the most interesting of the crew members of Mass Effect and she is the only character from Mass Effect 2, other than Legion,  who's loyalty mission actually contributed something to the over all story. I would go so far to say that Tali and Legions Loyalty did more for the over all story of Mass Effect 2 than the Suicide Mission itself.
