I am having a problem with the PC game, both before it was patched and after the 1.01 patch. I am running windows 7 using a microsoft bluetooth mouse, but ingame the scroll wheel does not work. In all the other games I play the scroll wheel works fine.

Yes, I have this problem as well. Logitech MX1100 wireless mouse with the latest Setpoint drivers for Windows 7. Scroll wheel works fine everywhere else, hope this gets fixed.

I'm also experiencing this with a MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 on Windows 7 with the Intellimouse drivers installed. Scroll wheel works fine elsewhere. The scroll wheel on my keyboard also doesn't work in game.

Yeah, me too. I have Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000, scroll wheel does not work. It is so strange, but I know how to fix it. It works in Windows XP, but no in Windows 7. So, install Windows XP. Strange bug.

Sign me up for having the same problem. This just started for me after I upgraded to Windows 7. So, I'm guessing it's a Win7 problem (as it seems everyone else on here has the same OS). Previously (as in earlier this week), I was running XP and this never happened.

Basically I don't think this game is compatable with Windows 7 + mouse wheel. Which is lame since that's how you'd scroll the camera in and out.
You have to change your mouse driver to a generic mouse driver, or perhaps tell your mouse control software in windows that you have a different mouse type (like a regular two button mouse) and you should be able to get it to work. But this will affect your scrolling in all other windows applications that normally would work correctly. So you'll have to change your mouse driver to play the game and then change it back when you're done playing.
Submit a bug report to Bioware to request a fix.

Works fine for me - Windows 7 with a Logitech G5. I notice that most of you are using Microsoft mice - could be the problem? Or it could be an old mouse where Windows 7 doesn't have the appropriate drivers.

Using Vista and a Microsoft Mouse here, having the same issue. I've got a temporary fix in place. Go into your Mouse Properties and change the connected device to another mouse. I changed my Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 to a Laser Mouse 6000 (same number of buttons), and the scroll wheel works, albeit extremely quickly. It seems to be related to the tilt wheel function of MS Mice, as it stops working whenever I choose a mouse that has that ability. Hope this helps!

The problem has been discussed at length in other software products e.g. winamp. Essentially it boils down to the following:
Previous versions of Windows always had a fixed delta for mouse wheel changes, so lots of programmers hard-coded the assumption that the delta would be a particular value (120). The later versions of Windows and Intellipoint software have begun using different delta values, which means programs that incorrectly assume the fixed delta don't work properly. Try scrolling in winamp's playlist and you'll find there is the exact same sort of issue.
There are workarounds but they're not exactly something I'd call a long-term fix as this problem will only get worse as more mice drivers take advantage of the new functionality.
1) You can try and find a different mouse in Intellipoint that happens to restore the wheel deltas.
2) You can install ONLY the mouse driver, not the Intellipoint software, as it's the latter that enables the new functionality in Microsoft mice (extract the Intellipoint installer and point Windows at the driver in there, you'll get a correct mouse driver but no extra functions beyond two buttons & scroll).
That said, the real fix lies squarely in the hands of the developers of the software that has the problem, in this case Bioware. I really hope they address it. I'd hate to find that in a couple of years, more people have more complex mice and Dragon Age ceases to scroll properly.
