Lets argue about which is the most fun. Its not like this game is hard, even on insanity. All you have to do is hide behind cover long enough to regain 100% health and shields and you are good to go. Insanity just takes more patience and better positioning then the other difficulties. Because of this, an optimized character is not needed and we should be focusing on what makes our characters the most fun, not just the strongest possible.
So what is your favorite class/build and special? Some people have fun by having the most powerful character possible and that is fine, so list that if you like. I am on my first playthrough and so far I am enjoying the game. I am using armor piercing ammo as my special (tungsten) on a soldier. I went with a different build then most by maximizing area concussive blast instead of maxing adrenaline rush. Even though I am playing on insanity, I just wanted to try something different from the norm. I enjoy firing concussive blasts repeatedly, just feels good. I still use adrenaline rush on occasion, mainly to prevent enemies who are getting to close to me from surviving. I dont have enough experience with tungsten ammo so far, Ive only done one mission with it, talis loyalty mission and it seemed to be fine. I heard it makes deaths more gory and that sounds fun to me.

I like the Engineer. With pretty much any build as long as Cry Blast is involved

Tungsten really ramps up the gore. On my last soldier play through I landed a head shot with the widow sniper rifle and literally an entire panel on the wall was covered in blood. I was like holy crap O_O

Shotgun Infiltrator:
Assassination Cloak
Tungsten Ammo
Agent (cooldown + duration passive)
Incinerate (lvl 2)
Ai hacking (lvl 3)
Shotgun bonus weapon
I basically just cloak, bum rush in, take my time lining up a shot with the Cerberus shotty then one (or two) shot whatever I'm aiming at. It's definitely less effective than being a pansy with the Widow rifle but making people somersault backwards in a fountain of blood is just hilarious.
Also, the shotty does stupid damage with the cloak and AP ammo bonueses combined.

Adept for me thus far.
I predict Vanguard will be up there too.
I like soldier a bit, just for the 'rambo' factor, but overall it's kinda bland.
I like skill based classes, not as in player skill, as in skills to use.
So yeah, thus far adept. I imagine vanguard and engineer to be not long after.

Engineer
because you can create an army to fight for you and you can pretend your subzero with cyro blast.
Sentinel
because i feel like i'm doing everything well.

Infiltrator.
Love it when I'm right behind the enemy and their kneeling behind cover.
Feels like an execution-style murder when I point my SMG to the back of their heads and let loose.

People like arguing DPS because it proves their point of play is most valid, ignoring actual facts

For me it's Vanguard. But after seeing some vids of a CQC Infiltrator, I'm going to have to try one of those. Looks like it could be just as, if not more fun.

'Assault Infiltrator'
~ Instead of relying on the sniper rifle, I use cloak to get close to enemies and let 'er rip!

Would go Adept on normal, once you hit insanity, your choices narrow down and it feels more like a 2 button spam athon... minuscule tactical choices making it feel more like a generic shooter, vomit. The higher the difficulty the more redundant the hapless companion AI becomes. So Adept for fun and normal for a little more versatility/variety. But really the system is entertaining, although lacking in the variety of skills present... true build decisions none (not that making any decision is needed, with the WoWified respec option).
