I didn't seem to notice it was difficult. I got 30 on my first play imported a level 50 and was 30 prior to doing the suicide mission. Did all DLC except stolen memory and Shadow Broker on normal difficulty. 2nd play was easier, imported a 40...on hardcore and did all dlc except shadow broker before suicide mission. Was 30 prior to mission as well.

With long service bonus, level 30 is easy. Without it, i just did my first PS3 playthrough, completed everything and hit 29 towards the end of the suicide mission so no, don't think you can quite make it.

my first ME2 playtrough i did NOT reach level 30 even though i imported a level 60 from ME1. I was just a few points away from 30 despite doing all the N7 missions. At the time tho, i did not have xbox live, so no Zaheed mission or anything, just the core game.

Well, there's a bonus to XP if you beat ME2 once and make another Shep.

If you're playing for the first time, you probably just missed a few sidequests or missing DLCs.

My first import (a level 49 from ME1) I got to 28 (I think) at the SM, but I didn't explore the entire galaxy, and I didn't do every sidequest.

On my most recent playthrough (keep in mind the XP bonus for making another Shep) from an imported 50 ME1 character, I hit 30 looooong before I touched the IFF mission (after doing 100% exporation, both DLC's, and every sidequest I could find).

There's plenty of content. Be sure to talk to everybody and try to go through all of their dialogue choices - more than casual conversation can reward you with XP and Paragon/Renegade points. Check every inch of every hub world, and make sure you hack everything and pick up everything - even in Loyalty missions.

Level 30 reached without import or replay. Had all achievements and other bonuses.(bonus talents.) Do those factor into it? On Xbox. Also all free DLCs. Should be doable. Paragon Vanguard run with everything done, all loyalties, nobody dies, everything reserched; You get the gist of it. Everything. Even all planets were scanned. Wrote a walktrough for myself, Just for the heck of it... Try it if you are making a lot import chars, it's fun and helps to keep the intrest up. Especially if you are doing them in row. Took a "few" days. It was the last of 8 runs. And then the box did the fritz on me... Somehow frying the saves with it.

It might be doable on the PS3 if you do all the included content and all the N7 missions. I got close to 28 and still had a lot of N7 missions left. Once you get the long service bonus though, it's a breeze.

on a fresh game (no long service bonus that is), imported ME1 character lvl 47, I got to 27 or 28 I think and I did all the missions, but the maps you buy in Illium, and at the time, I only had Zaeed's DLC. so with all the DLC's and all the missions, even if you start at level one, yes, I think you can reach lvl 30 in one playthrough.

importing a level 54ish shep i can get to level 30 in one playthrough and doing a minimal ammount of N7 missions. i do however do the DLC

You can get to level 30 on your first ever playthrough of ME2. First import a ME1 character that reached level 50 minimum. Then make certain you have all ME2 DLC installed. Do every single assignment, and mission no matter how small in ME2 even doing the little things like getting fod for the ship. (note you can skip the Giana Parasini assignment as in my first ME2 game she was dead from ME1) And voila you are level 30. I hit level 30 on my first ME2 game on the last mission I did (Tali's loyalty) before I went to the Omega 4 relay. And this was all before I got the Long Service Medal and the exp bonus it gives.

When I create a new character in ME2 I have no trouble hitting 30 before the suicide mission, or with a <50 ME1 character.
