I'm playing ME2 on the PC, downloaded from Steam. Here are my system specs:
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 1475MB used, 2873MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Graphics Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
Driver Version: 8.17.0011.9621 (English)
I'm having trouble with thick, black shadow-like things covering certain objects and people. There's a black pool around Shepard in certain areas, the armor on the vorcha in Omega is entirely black in a very arteficial way, and Garrus' face is impossible to see because it's entirely black. It's a really pity. He's such a pretty boy.
I've fiddled with all of the in-game graphics options and gone so far as to edit DepthBias to completely remove shadows. I don't believe this blackness has anything to do with shadows in the game, and I'm really not sure how to fix it.

The .ini files are in My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Config on my system.
When it detects your vid card it has premade settings it uses, you can override them in those .inis. When I had crossfire 4670 I had no shadow glitches, but with my 5970 (inner xfired gpus) I have them. I trust it's because of the game settings it has auto chosen. You can google up ut3 settings cause most work to some degree.

Thank you! Any idea what settings in my Config documents might be causing my blackness problems?
It seems to be similar to the problem people had in Therum in Bring Down The Sky, as seen here:

Is there a ME2 version of deletiong the UPK file (LocalShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk) in My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Published\\CookedPC ?
