Do you guys really think Mass Effect 3 is going to be Dragon Age in space?

'Cause, y'know, the Reapers have to be beaten in some way.

How do you, in your infinite brilliance, propose the galaxy defeat the Reapers then?Archereon wrote...

Mika: under no circumstance should a race ever loose a war if it has an 8000 year technology advantage over its enemy, let alone the 20,000,000 year or so advantage the Reapers have. The ending to mass effect 1 was a well reasoned fight against seemingly impossible odds (rather than the pathetic reasoning behind the outcome in Avatar), it took an entire alliance fleet to take down Sovereign even with its shields down, even assuming they could have killed Sovereign without Shpeards help (if they had time), that still means a fleet for each Reaper. And seeing as there are literally enough Reapers to "darken the sky of every world." we're f**ked if they show up.
why don't you go and write your own better book
If all goes well one day you'll be eating your words without knowing it.
@The AngryOne: Soviergn would have obliterated the entire alliance fleet if shepard hadn't stunned it.

Right, because the combined Alliance defense fleet didn't get totally smashed up before they arrived, including the Destiny Ascension, a ship which dwarfs any dreadnought in the Alliance navy.
That wasn't the alliance defense fleet, that was the citadel fleet...

Have you even seen that failblog Avatar/Pocahontas script?
The similarity is almost embarassing seeing as my father works in the film industry (rigging electrician, stays miles away from Cameron's work.)
MIka: Only the writers know all of the secrets of the ME universe, and I'm sure they have a plan to deal with it. What I'm hoping is that they don't go back on their lore of the Reapers being unstoppable if they are able to reach the galaxy. Mass Effect deserves something better than DA:O 's story in space.

I didn't say a lot of cruisers didn't die too.
Though according to the Codex the Alliance lost only about 8 to Sovereign. 8? For a big bad Reaper? Pathetic!
The battle outside doesn't count that much by the way, Sovereign had Geth help.. and guess what? The Geth are gonna be kicking Reaper butt too. Hooray!

Yeah which part about entire Geth fleet did you not get about that scene?

The Council fleet is still rebuilding and predominately human.
The Krogan are unlikely to have a fleet.
Unknown if the Rachni, if they are alive in your playthrough, have a large fleet or not but there was word of ship sightings.
Unknown numbers for the Geth fleet.
The Batarians reportedly have a fleet a little bit smaller than the Alliance's with at least one Dreadnought but it'll take some major convincing to recruit them....

Which was being assaulted by the entire Geth fleet, not Sovereign alone.
And still lasts long enough to be saved by the Alliance.
- Combined Citadel defense fleet, Turian, Asari, Salarian
- Alliance fleet stationed nearby turned the tide of the battle, but
- Sovereign's kinetic barriers only dropped when you killed Saren, apparently because it distracted the ship or something. It's not clear why it happened, but the kinetic barriers were holding strong and presumably the ship would not have been defeated so "easily" had this not happened.

Whilst they obviously aren't as advanced as the Reapers, we don't know how much firepower the Citadel races actually have.
The Destiny Ascension took quite the pounding before you saved it (if you saved it). We have no idea how much power it actually packs outside of Kaiden saying something about how it could punch a whole clean through ANY ship in the citadel fleet.
Just food for thought

Shepard vs. a leaping machine frog? The ending to mass effect 1 was a well reasoned fight against seemingly
impossible odds
Also, I wonder why the Reapers didn't just construct themselves out of the same material that the indestructible mass relays are made out of, considering they are responsible for them in the first place.

I'm betting Admiral Morrigan is going to be a major antagonist in ME3 though with her wicked plans to enslave the Geth and all.

In which case you kick her butt, install Tali as new god-queen of the Quarian race, and make peace with the geth in time for the Reapers to show up.

Watch Dances with Wolves, then watch Avatar. It is the same f***in' movie, with different graphics.
Normally i LOVE Cameron films(See Terminator, Aliens) but while Avatar wasn't bad....the story was so godawfully predictible and filled with obnoxious cliches.

It sounds like tho OP wants nothing more than to lose at the end of ME 3.
I want to win, but I don't want to do it in a way that requires the writers to downplay the power of the Reapers. Which is to say, if we beat the Reapers in a conventional war, that's not what I want.
If we find a working version of the weapon that killed the Reaper where you get the IFF from, that'd be interesting. (of course, it shouldn't be revealed until near the very end when the Reaper's victory seems all but inevitable.)
@above poster: Cameron's old work was very good. He hasn't made a good movie in a long time now though.
