Andraste = Jesus
Chantry = Roman Catholic Church
Tevinter Chantry = Easter Orthodox Church

Didn't think about the Chantries too much, however.

The Templars are also an obvious reference.

Ashes = Holy Grail
Both have healing powers, and both are religious artifacts.

I thought the fact the Chantry is protected by TEMPLARS would be obvious enough.
Plus Andraste I dunno if you could see her as Jesus. She resembles other profits more like Muhammad.

I always thought of Andraste as being somewhere between Jesus and Joan of Arc -- but otherwise those work as pretty broad comparisons.Jackimole wrote...

Maferath = Judas
This one's quite far-fetched...
I would draw a comparison between Maferath and Clovis (being a war leader who embraced a new religion at the request of his wife and making it the official religion in the land his armies conquered and where his people eventually settled) but this is also far-fetched.
So um... I don't think Maferath could really be compared to any historical figure. He has an important role in the setting but doesn't seem to have any clear inspiration.

The comparison I make is because Maferath betrayed Andraste. And Clovis actually converted his wife, not the other way around._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...

I'm not sure if you guys took some inspiration from Islam when it comes to the lore, but in some ways, she resembles the prophet Muhammad.
Like her, he led a war against a decadent force and was also a regular person instead of divine, like Christ was. They were both part-religious teacher, part-general. Within his lifetime the Arabian peninsula embraced Islam. While Andraste was a martyr, the Tevinter Imperium also embraced her faith shortly after her death.
I might be reaching for straws, though.

Now the one that really intrigues me the most is the Qunarian, for some reason I think they're over-exaggerated Muslim.
I hope none is offended here.

Agreed 100%. Jesus never really fought wars in his brief time on Earth (if you believe in that) and is considered the son of God as well as a part of the trinity. Whereas Andraste and Muhammad are humans who have been sent as prophets...both seeing miracles done for them by the "Maker"/God. Both fought in a war which eventually saw the blossiming of the religions post-death.
However, Islam doesn't really have a "chantry" to speak of though really. There is a council of scholars who clear up religous textual interpretational disagreements, but they don't really create laws, and aren't needed for religious sermon (prayers). So it's a mix of an Islamic prophet with a Christian church.
