Did anybody else find it much more easy to beat Mass Effect 2 on insanity than everybody says it is?

Took me only 7 hours to beat it. I finished at only a level 18 soldier, I didnt do any side quest unless i had too (waiting for reaper iff to "install"). I only died a total of 8 times, 3 of those were from the end boss alone (it was 3 in the morning and i was just sucking). I got most of the upgrades (just all of assault, sniper, and armor ones).

I was just seeing if anybody else didn't have that much trouble with insanity, from what i have read it seems like alot of people are.

Starting with a new character is easier than starting NG+ from what I've heard.

Insanity isn't that bad but I am in the collectors ship and struggling but I am doing NG+ on insanity so it's hard.

I don't think it will be that bad after I am done the collectors ship but it's really frustarting at the moment.

After the collector ship everything is cake. Did it on my NG+ infiltrator.

Garrus recruitment and the collector ship itself made me consider just stopping.

Starting off with a new soldier makes it really easy compared to NG+.

The soldier class is the easiest to use in the game.

Fun though

Playthrough #1 for me is always with generic male shep mostly paragon soldier

Started as a lvl 30 Soldier. Was harder for me at first because I was expecting it to be like ME1's Insanity lol

Got easier and easier though, the suicide mission which I was kinda dreading, was extremely easy

I beat the game on Insanity as a sentinel. I didn't find it that hard. I died a few times on the Collector ship and Horizon, but I figured out how to tackle it and didn't have any problems from then on.

Once you get a few upgrades to your armour and weapons it actually gets really easy. You just have to take cover instead of running out in the open like an idiot.

You heard wrong.  Having all your skills and weapons at the start + money to buy initial upgrades = easier.

The only hard part about NG+ comes from Soldiers playing easy-mode with all soldier squad that can't figure out why enemies with armor and barriers kick the crap out of them.

Insanity is not a difficulty level.  This is how it works.

Normal - 0% shield barrier armor mechanics.  all weapons and abilities work
Hardcore - 80% shield barrier armor mechanics - weapon choice is critical
Insanity - 100% Shield Barrier Armor mechanics - squad skills and wepaon choice critical some eneimes are damage type immune

Basically Insanity is just the game with all the stuff turned on.  Players who run through the game on easier settings don't learn how the mechanics work but develop a "false mastery".  By this I mean they develop mastery of the mechanics based on some mechanics being turned off.

What ends up happening is players turn it to insanity and because they developed false mastery they "believe" they understand the mechanics enough to be successful.  Unfortunatley for them they mastered only part of the mechanics and they have to "relearn" how to do something they whole heartedly "believe" they already know.  That is one of the hardest things to do in all aspects of life not just gaming.  Trying to overcome your own mind and re-learn something is taxing and frustrating for most people.

It's that whole old dog, new tricks thing.  People don't tend to recognize this in themselves though because again they "believe" and that's their only true barrier.  I am certain this explains 99% of the "Insanity is too hard" posting that happens on these forums.

Im playing it Currently on Infiltrator and its pretty easy to take down a few guys but i do need my supply of Biotic team mates to save me taking down shields and distracting heavy mechs

I can't get past the collector ship. Squad just gets wasted instantly.

7 hours

What the... were you going for an "everyone horribly dies" ending? Even then, 7 hours? Is this a joke topic?

Its incredibly easy. Have Adept and Infiltrator on my belt.

Bioware needs to learn how to make hard games.

Uh, he heard right. Okay, you're level 30 and you've got all your weapons. But your enemies? They're scaled to your level AND they retain all their upgrades while you don't. Compare this to starting a new game on Insanity, where enemies are always at your equal and there is no massive 'everything has higher shields, damage, health and armour' that smashes your face as you try to fend it all off.
And, also, importing a rich ME1 character plus the ME2 Long Service benefits stack and I'm pretty sure you end up with far more resources and credits than just importing an NG+ character.
Though the question how you got past the final battle at Horizon is confusing. Maybe because I went as an Infiltrator, but I maintain cloaking saved my life against the initial wave of Scions and Husks. Well, Cloaking and Incinerate. Your squad-mates are pretty useless when they're dead after the first minute.

ha i just beat insanity with an soldier too. sooooooooooooooo much easier then my NG+ sentinel.

its not even close how much more difficult NG+ is then a fresh shepard. just imagine fighting level 30 enemies WITHOUT having any upgrades. garrus recruitment took me a day or two, im still stuck on the collector ship from about a week ago.

NG+ insanity is truely insane.

It's largely a matter of addapt and overcome. A player who can tweak their strategy and ballance their squad to meet various challenges should have little problem getting through.

Notable hard parts of Insanity:

Start...Garrus & Mordin Recruitments (Flamethrowers)........Horizon..........Collector Ship Ambush........................... Final Showdown with Husk/Abom Pack during Biotic Gauntlet.

I'm an Adept.

ding ding ding.

Its not as if the ENTIRE game is so hard on Insanity, its just those few spots you mentioned that can be very difficult to get through on insanity difficulty. I would also add the side mission where you face the 3 Mechs as well, that one can be a pain in the ass as well.
