I only found out you could do that after returning to Tuchanka after completing the game on my way to exploring 100% of all the accessible star clusters on the map.
After I got Urz the varren to follow me, I was curious and went over to the Varren Gambling pit and to my delight I could place a bet on Urz for the match! It was really cool seeing Shepard send Urz into the pit and when he won the victory arm pump was so heartwarming!

- learning the true story of geth and almost everything about Legion, esp. that moment when he is "embarrassed" to answer why there is a piece of Shepard's armor in him.
- each time Jack shows her nice side. I'm thinking of playing a maleshep (never did this in the first ME) just to have more of her. Honestly, I almost cried watching the romance scene on youtube =(
- Mordin's contemplation over a dead female krogan. Realizing that we gonna have a salarian as a squad-member, I was disappointed and thought it was a waste of time to make such a character. Oh God, how wrong was I. Mordin ftw!
- when Samara smiles. no comment.
- brandy convo with Dr. Chakwas. So nostalgic and heart-warming at the same time.
- Tali's loyalty mission - tear-jerker through and through. Tali was the most plain character for me in ME, but in ME2 I've finally understood the talifans =)
- matriarch bartender on Illium.
- Joker – EDI friendship.
- Hugging Kelly =)
- Kal'Reegar - there is something special about that guy, can't even explain why.
- surviving through the suicide mission. Epic swings from panic to utter bliss. I think I had a mild heart attack when Thane was falling down =)
- Not heart-warming, but I felt really sorry for the collectors, esp. in “releasing control” piece. Poor thing looked so miserable T_T
The list is endless, this game is full of deeply touching moments – tragic, hilarious, heart-warming, etc.

the moments that got to me...
the Tali hug of course, its a mandatory thing to do... and its seriously touching. I'm not the biggest Tali fan, but in my Me1 playthroughs, she was ALWAYS in my squad, except when aiming for another achievement. i like her voice. She is complex. I love the bit where after you diffuse the situation with Legion, where she offers a piece of less-important data to upload to the Geth.
Legion is a total-non-stop-"aww-shucks" character. through all the things They say, especially the bit about the ShepArmour, you see them as Sapients, rather than Rogue AIs.
The Shiala mission on Illium. when you get Erinya to open up to why she hates all Aliens, and literally breaks down. thats seriously touching stuff.
The message from the Rachni queen (i always released her... tried to kill her once, felt SO bad i reloaded an earlier save so that my Shep hadn't committed genocide). And her promise to come to your aid against the Reapers... WOOHOO... Rachni warriors in the war with the Reapers.
Dr Chakwas Serrice Ice Brandy conversation. I loved Dr Chakwas before the drinks, and even more afterwards. She did dwell a little bit too much on Jensen... who would only have been on her ship for a very short time before dying on Eden Prime... but still...
Kaiden's super apologetic email after essentially attacking you on Horizon. I did notice (well i think i did) that he's far angrier at a femShep he romanced than at Shep who he doesn't for signing up with Cerberus.
