As for wanting the feel of it back... guess we'll just have to wait for the Hammerhead DLC and see.

Any word on when that DLC is coming down the pipe? Is it going to be free or do we have to purchase it?Yorick of the Damned wrote...

Planet scanning is boring but i'd take boring over frustrating any day of the week
Again someone who doesn't know everybody saying the only reason we like it is because of Nostalgia... You are about as ignorant as they come my friend. Again your statement of people like I talking out of a nostalgic point of view is completely false. Its not nostalgia why I like it. I prefer it over scanning because of how much more immersive it makes the game. It shows how huge the galaxy is and that these planets are part of it. Its more explorative then just scanning a big gas giant for resourses for about 4 of your gameplay hrs. Thats a lot of wasted time when you play through the game multiple times. At least with the Mako you are exploring a "World Map" like many older RPG's had and thats what was great about.
Also how does one like being bored in a VIDEO GAME over being frustrated? That comment makes no sense. Frustration comes in all games at higher difficulties. Do you still play those? Not sure but most likely you do. I wouldn't buy a boring video game personally but hey if you would thats your call if you wish to waste your money like that.

Actually, that would be inaccurate.
I have played through ME2 4 times, and have just gone back to level up an old ME1 character. And, in doing so, I have found that I love the Mako more than ever.
I'd rather physically explore a single barren world than probe dozens of planets over, and over, any day.

So Bioware's plan is this: Mix it up. If they had the Mako for ME1 AND ME2, I'd be so sick of it I wouldn't be able to play as much. If they had mineral scanning for ME1 and 2, THAT would get old very fast. So I play ME1 when I want a different but the same experience. That's what I love about these games, it's the same trilogy, but each one is different that nothing get's boring.
Good point about seeing Earth from the Moon. Thing is, we can do that whenever we want. I made a save file there (and another save file for whichever planet had the blue and red planets orbiting it. Metgos?) Anyways just trying to be neutral here, whenever I miss the Mako in ME2, I play ME1. Not a big deal for me, but then again I'm a contented person right now

That was sarcasm right? The driving the Mako is light years better than scanning planets. I miss driving circles around thresher maws while blasting them with the cannon. I think I'll go play some ME1 now.

Hahaha I picture this happening to my squaddies when I'm driving the Mako over a cliff, slams the ground with impossible force, then it barrel rolls, does a 360 on one wheel, then falls on it's back where I spam the A button trying to get it right-sided. I imagine my teammates breaking their necks from whiplash lol
"Commander did you have to use hydrolics AS we were driving off the cliff?".

Just find a guide that tells you the necessary amount and you'll be done with it in no time.
It's better not to actually. You will pick up minerals during missions too so it's best to only scan when you have an upgrade but lack the minerals. Then go scan good or rich worlds and stop when the scanner notifies you that you now have enough minerals for the upgrade. You'll spend a lot less time scanning that way and since you're not doing it all at once it won't seem quite that painful either.
Also skip the medbay upgrade if you are playing paragon or if you just don't mind the scars. I bet a lot of people are out there scanning up 50k plat right away who don't actually need the silly thing.

1.) The planets were all essentially the same, with just a different color pallet.
2.) The fighting was boring and lame (Cannon OP, machine gun UP).
3.) Repairing the mako took way too long,
4.) The shields took way too long to recharge.
5.) The jump boost did nothing.
6.) Nothing to really explore, just fluff in between unimportant side quests.
7.) No gravity Physics. Planets larger than Jupiter had the same effect on the Mako as the moon.
8.) Was more tedious and boring than planet scanning after about 3 planets.
I still don't get why developers put in unfun tedious gameplay mechanics. Do they really believe unenjoyable time sinks improve the game. I would rather play a 10 hour game of nonstop fun than 30 hours of a mix of fun and chore like garbage. Would ME 2 really be worse if whenever you found an upgrade, you could just research it on your ship? How about give away more credits and just make upgrades cost credits. Surely you can buy Palldium, Irridium, Platinum and EEZO with cash money.

I enjoyed ME2, but I think ME1 was a better game, in lots of respects. One of them happens to include the Mako and its ability to make you feel like you really were exploring space and alien worlds.

Yeah, just like everyone hated elevator rides over loading screens, inventory system over limited upgrade system and lots of skills and levels over fewer skills and levels.
Oh, wait they didn't.
Some people did.
BioWare made the changes.
Now other people are pissed off. Me included.
Lol, poor BioWare, damned if they do, damned if they don't
I loved all those things BioWare removed, It setted them apart from the competition.
But, BioWare choose to remove those features instead of fixing them, its not like they're not responsible for this.

As for the jump boosters, they can be used to 'dodge' *gasp* Thresher Maw, or whatever else, attacks. Are you telling me you just drove around in circles hoping the Thresher Maw didn't choose to come up right under you? *laugh*
