i find it hilarious real human player's emotions are just as 2 dimensional as the written NPCs in a video game world. "ARGGH HUMANS ARE SCUM!!"

players respond "ARRRGH BATARIANS ARE SCUM!!"

or is it that you are roleplaying a specific shep save file on the forums? regardless, it makes me lol.

My Shep was a Colonist. He'd put the Batarian in the Normandy's waste disposal.

Some ex-slaves should just take an old freighter, put it on autopilot and crash it at FTL speed into the Batarian homeworld.

That's a horrible idea, it would just be an act of terrorism. I would support though finding a Batarian colony with missile systems, and then fire one missile at the space port and another at the city.

Speaking of batarians, I wonder if there were any batarian Spectres back when batarians maintained better relationships with the Council and had an embassy on the Citadel?

And if yes, then what has become of them? Was their status revoked by the Council, were they forced to resign by batarian goverment, or have they stayed loyal to the Council and perhaps remain in service even today?

Just a thought out of idle quriousity...

I would have like if Zaeed was a Batarian. I mean we really didn't need another human in the game. Same goes for Kasumi.

Speaking of backstories - I can remember only 2 combinations which have nothing to do with batarians, namely Earthborn/Survivor and Spacer/Survivor. Every other combination seems to have batarians responsible for a lot of trouble in protagonist's life. So it is no surprise that dislike for batarians is somewhat more...personal.

Remember that the Skyllian Blitz was instigated by a human.

I really like a mission where you can kick some batarian asses but i also want some further development for this race... is quite obvious that all of them can't be bad.

I really hope for a Batarian squad mate in ME3. I am also expecting one, since it is very unlike Bioware to just let an entire race look like a bunch of slavers, terrorists or mercs. Bioware is all for the nuance, that's why I think they will get the Geth treatment like ME2.

I think its pretty hard for a Ruthless Shepard to accept Batarians. I mean, I went out of my way to kill every damn one of those bastards on Torfan. They even tried to surrender and I gunned them down as they surrendered.

I'm ruthless and a colonist but I have no problem with a batarian squaddie nor is my Shepard racist against the batarian people.
My Shep didn't kill all those batarians on Torfan because they were batarian, he did it because they were criminals, he couldn't give a damn what race they were my Shep would've done the exact same thing if they were asari, turian or even human.

Maybe but I find it a little disingenuous to the character whose parents were killed by Batarian slavers to not hold some deep seeded grudge against their race. Plus the fact that she would not accept their surrender and sacrificed most of her men just to make sure they were all dead, makes me think there was more to it.

However you’re free to play your Shepard however you want.  Maybe you weren’t a Renegade.

My Shepard was definitely a racist (speciest?) in ME1.

“Do you take pleasure from committing genocide Shepard?”
“Depends on the species, Turian”

I purposely killed off the old Council so humans could seize control of the Council. The look on Anderson’s face when I said that was priceless.

She has somewhat softened now, but still hates Batarians.  Garrus has given her a reason to respect Turians.  She wasn’t fond of Krogan until her mission with Grunt, but has a new found respect for their race. (I had to shoot Wrex in the face in ME1)  Though she still believes the genophage was the right thing to do.

Only if they give me the option to deny/shoot him. That would be very out of character if my Colonist Sole Survivor Renegade Femshep lets her back and that of her whole team be covered by one of those guys who killed her family. She killed every Batarian she ever met and watched the sick one choking to death.

(Most likely Batarian) Slavers killed my Shep's family and friends, my Shep then killed a ****-ton of Batarians on Torfan, a Batarian squadmate wouldn't be such a great idea, really.

I'm fully in favour of an option to shoot/kill any potential Batarian squadmates. After all, several squadmates in ME2 are optional, such as Legion or Grunt. Several can be killed under a variety of circumstances.

I understand that some Shepards, wheter Paragon or Renegade, would naturally have an unreasonable hatred for Batarians. The point, however, is that I'd like to be able to make the choice.

The only Bataarian that did not immediately shoot me, threaten someone or try to intimidate me would have been the Bataarian shopkeeper on omega and of course the sick fella in the quaratine zone. Even the sick fella was trying to lift his pistol and would have if he wasn't so weak

The rest have been terrorists trying to bring down an asteroid on a city, slavers trying to capture some slaves, more terrorists trying to shoot nukes at a spaceport and a city, low lifers that threaten torture to an unarmed man, mad suckers who tell everyone humans are a blight, etc

Basically they are like Drizzt or Fall from Grace, every 100,000 of them you find one that isn't evil

I would support such an option too.
Funniest thing is that I probably won't use it anyway - hey, more squadmates is more fun. But having to accept a batarian in the squad would be unpleasant.

Having Batarian join your squad in ME3 would be kinda interesting. As long as he isn't a typical human hating terrorist because that's when I kill him the first chance I get.
