You just answered your own question.
You enter His/Her room, which is lit with insense, tapastry hangs from the steel walls giving the room more flavor, a crewman who added their own personal touch to the normandy. In the middle of the room they stand, practicing with a massive Bat'Leth, spinning it with ease and nearly cutting your head off when you approach them in the middle of their daily ritual.
"... Shepard."

Maybe I would want one if Batarians were not universally portrayed as racists, criminals, thugs, or slavery enthusiasts.

Oh and I can never believe how mindlessly racist people on these forums can be to a fictional race.

On this forum? Pfff... HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, now that is funny.

Batarians have aligned themselves against Humanity. You are a human.

Right, tell that to all the paragon players out there eager to apologize for humanity want to be in command of its own destiny. Always eager to sell out human interests to the Council. Or tell that to a real-life liberal.
"Useful idiots."
In any case, a single batarian squad-mate wouldn't imply any kind of alignment with the batarian government or species as a whole. This person, like Garrus or Tali, would be an individual. I could have sworn that Revelation stated that the Blue Suns were a batarian organization anyway. It seems like a weird ret-con to have them actually get started by a human. Zaeed is neat, but I think it was a missed opportunity to add a batarian to the team.
Someone earlier talked about having a female batarian squaddie. I'd love a female batarian for the same reason I'd love a female turian or krogan squadmate; it sometimes breaks my immersion when I realize that I never see the females of these species. It's just weird. Bioware could have cut out the vorcha, an utterly worthless addition to the mythos, and instead added female batarian or turian models.
I think if we had a female batarian squaddie she'd have to be from a higher caste, but perhaps outcast after disgracing her family. Make her educated enough not to be irrationally hateful of Shepard or humanity, but still a firm believer in social class, someone who looks down at Shepard. What would be interesting is if she had a more favorable opinion of Miranda and Tali, since both of them come from what could be considered "upper caste" families in their respective cultures.

So is the quagmire war in Iraq and Afgahnistan the result of GWB being too liberal? What about the waste and embezzelment of taxpayer funds? The republican party let itself get corrupted by those gosh-darned liberal ideas?Shandepared wrote...

Liberal presidents got us into both world wars and Vietnam. Each was far more costly than Iraq. Afghanistan was necessary.

Wow. That **** problem totally would've just burned itself out on it's own. And Pearl Harbor? The Japanese clearly perceived American weakness because a Democrat was in the white house.Shandepared wrote...

On a related note, you do realize "liberal" and "Democrat" are not in fact synonomous terms? Or indeed that the specific policies of any one president are largely incumbent upon the times and the nature of the individual.
I mean, let's ignore the wars then: GWB - also managed to incite the global financial crisis by refusing to regulate. Managed to sufficiently ignore New Orleans till Katrina hit and killed a bunch of people. Even when Iraq was going well, stacked the deck with inexperienced and ignorant personnel like Paul Bremer specifically so they could perform a grandiose experiment in modifiying reality to suit their preconceptions.
Now all of this could be chocked up to him being a corrupt idiot...but given you've never offered an actual definition of liberal or the policy ideas you oppose, it seems the punchline is essentially you're the type of guy who votes Republican no matter what because clearly they're "conservative".
Grow up. Or you know, shut up because we're talking about a video game.

If Roosevelt hadn't been supplying the Allies with material for the last several years then we could have fought in the Pacific without ever needing to get involved in Europe. It was not our fight across the Atlantic.

You're a stuck up middle class white male who's had the mental misfortune of encountering Ayn Rand before you managed to realize basic empathy, and hide behind your faux-opinions of past wars to defend abhorrent social policy considerations and incorporated it such that you're mystified that when people find the notion of letting people die in the streets or ending food-stamps callous and inhumane.
I notice resounding silence on any part of what I posted outside of the comment of WW2...could that be because I'm slightly too on the mark? Tell me, how is Mr Beck's 1 hour hate doing these days? Is Fox News upholding that high standard of journalistic integrity they never had?
I'm only posting because everyone else is doing the classy thing and ignoring you. Don't mistake the fact no one questions you for any type of validation coz it just ain't there. I'm just bored enough to call you on your BS because you've repeatedly failed to display the good sense to shut the hell up about it previously. Or should I just adopt your own style and take to calling "conservatives" stupid in every second post? You tell me.

edit: I think batarians just aren't written that well, at least in the games,(i've only read the first book) and while every other species in mass effect has a broad spectrum of personality types within each species, batarians all act the same. for the most part, i know there are a few exceptions.
