I was kinda hoping for a Volus Biotic God squadmate. Errr... maybe.
Lol. Would mind keeping him on the ship as comic relief. I can imagine him going around and stealing crew members' unmentionables.
Jack: Touch my underwear again and i shall smear the wall with you, ****.
Volus: I didn't do it, I think things and they happen.
Samara: I can raise a biotic barrier, it won't be large enough but I can take a small team in.
Miranda: Technically even I can do it, any Biotic can.
Cal: Then it is decided... I will go.. I am a Biotic God, the wind of my smell will shield all... let it be a large team. I think things and they happen.
Tali: Shepard, he barely can stand, let alone walk.
Garrus: I am not even sure how he made it this far, or why you even recruited him.
Cal: Bah... you will reap holy vengeance of my just will.

Anyone wonder how Batarian slavery in the Batarian Culture functioned when Batarians were a part of Citadel space? The Council didn't object to slavery then? Or did Slavery become a part of their culture only after ceding from the Council?
I think so far in ME1 and ME2 we are only shown some of the nastiest and worst parts of Batarian culture.
Again, i find it funny how many people roleplay racism. You would think people would hate Reapers more than Batarians. People accept Reapers as a bad guy but don't seem to "hate" them the way people express their hatred for Batarians.
Furthermore, I am surprised in this bunch of RP-Racists, there aren't more people hating on Turians (who occupied Shanxi and killed humans during incident 314) or other species.
Funny thing, most of the times I play very idealistic paragons who respect everyone. Yet...saving that dying batarian on Omega was one of the hardes desidions for me to make. Played Colonis/Hero, and finished BDtS, you know. Done it anyway, because it's right. (sigh) Hard to be paragon:innocent:
Anyway, I think the reason that people tend to dislike batarians so easy is because in many backgrounds, it's personal for Shep. It's much easier to hate people who wronged *you* than someone who have done something vaguely bad to someone at some point in history only metioned in Codex.

I really like batarians, and I don't understand why so many seem to hate them. I don't think they're ugly at all, they look interesting. Having 4 eyes also gives you more options! For example, you could pretend to give someone your full attention by looking at them, while trailing off to some random direction with your second pair of eyes. Useful!
The only bad thing I can think of is that most of their voices sound kind of similar.

I am surprised that with the ability to build a team of every race 1) BW didn't include a Batarian and 2) the players and community don't seem to want or expect one!
I don't love Batarians, I just like the idea of having one of every combat-able race on my squad. Garrus had a Batarian technician. I know Shep has a history with Batarians (Mindoir/Torfan/Elysium/BDTS) but it would be cool to see A batarian who is not the stereotypical extremist/terrorist/antihuman/slaver.
If we could find a Batarian who had his own perspectives on global politics without being consumed by bitter jealousy, he could have great insight into Batarian culture now and before they ceded from the Council community.
I would ultimately like to find a way to re-integrate Batarians into council space. They are not enemies, they just got a raw political deal. The way Batarians reacted was totally inappropriate, but its decades later and SHEP can work out peace with them.
So with Kasumi as predicted incoming DLC and from the squad select screen, it looks like there is no more room for any other squaddies. Do you guys want a Batarian? Post your support!
I second this.

Ugly race is ugly.
At least we have people who likes krogan.
Anyways, I'd wellcome a batarian squadmate.
Less cute, more badass/interesting/whatever for ME3! It's a mature themed game for god's sake, not a teenage sex sim as some people out there imagines.

That said, though I find Batarians interesting, my Shepard... not so much. She may be a Paragon, but she took great [secret] pleasure in making that Bartender drink his own concoction.

Gooooood varren! *pet*
Everyone loves Urz - it's a fact
It is true though, the Omega resident Batarians do seem decent enough, even the mechanic is personable and engaging, unlike the Solarian jackass and the grumpy Krogan (why can't they all be like the ultra-polite one that works for Mr Thax? Or be Wrex?).

Through missions and conversations, you can eventually win his respect and convince him he's wrong until he becomes the first cuddly Batarian and you get a 'I think at last we understand one another, Mr Frodo--, er, I mean Shepard.' And a happy ending.
