I think its pretty hard for a Ruthless Shepard to accept Batarians. I mean, I went out of my way to kill every damn one of those bastards on Torfan. They even tried to surrender and I gunned them down as they surrendered.

Haha, oh wow. I had no idea. I played a War Hero and it was all about how my memorial was the most popular place to get married.

On the other hand, I did go well out of my way to kill every last Geth, just two years ago.

I like the idea of a Batarian squadmate, if it was done right. Also, the news announcement on Illium about Batarians complaining about the Council's rejection of slavery said something about slavery being an integral part of the Batarian caste system. I took that to mean that the Batarians aren't just enslaving aliens--that they have an entire caste of enslaved Batarians, too. In which case, I'd like to see a squadmate who comes out of that caste: a Batarian who doesn't necessarily like humans, but who has had a chance to experience his/her species' slaving practices personally. That would give them a pretty interesting perspective on human/Batarian politics and the ethics of slavery/piracy. In which case, their loyalty mission could be your Shepard helping them permanently escape from slavers trying to recapture them. If your Shepard really hated Batarians and didn't want one in the squad, they could have the option to refuse to help, and the Batarian would be gone.

Batarians are like humans with all the good personality traits missing and ugly to the boot. And no females that I could see... easy for hates to hate. I didn't really like the route BW took with their race. The blue suns driver that takes you to Archangel was a cool fellow for example.

There are just so few redeeming qualities to the Batarians it seems. Like on Omega when against my better judgment I let those Batarians go who were holding up Mordin's assistant, Daniel, and upon doing so one exclaims, "Human nobility, I didn't know such a thing existed.". I was like WTF?!?! YOU were the one about to shoot an unarmed doctor in the face and you're lecturing me about "nobility"?

So i would be ok with a batarian on the crew, the more people who arnt Cerberus lapdogs the better. He could chill in the cargo bay for all i care making sure the Kodiak is in working order.

Just as long as he takes a swing at Ken or someone for making a racist comment, and gives us a party conflict vs Zaeed.

He or She would both be acceptable.



Though of course what worries me if while we get more party members, we have to leave some on the ship, because the Kodiak only holds so many. we're at our limit already because it fits 12, with Kasumi coming along, who knows what'll happen.

I was hoping against hope we'd have a batarian squaddie in ME2. It didn't happen, so meh... I shifted my hope to ME3. I think they're fascinating and largely unexplored on an individual level. A team mate would fill in this gap -- show us what "batarian" really means.

My Shepard may be a colonist, but she's not unreasonable and would welcome one on the team if he/she proved capable.

I don't really care for batarians because



1 - They ugly (shallow reason is shallow, but whatev)

2 - I have never met a nice one, cept the one whose life i saved

3 - Whenever they get into any organization or community it seems to go downhill fast

4 - i don't like slavery, batarians are suing the council so they can keep doing it



I would be open to a batarian team mate, but i doubt i would use him much unless he was cool personality wise >_>

Yeah, how dare those darn humans colonize unsettlled worlds too.  Stinkin' Council wont put them on hold for us so we'll just pick up and leave and sponsor terrorism against humanity as a response.

Totally reasonable.
