Did the quest for Grunt in which I killed the Thrasher.  As I was leaving for the shuttle EDI informed us that Grunt had received numerous request to breed as well as a few for Shep.  Thought it was pretty damn funny imaging my demure fem Shep getting shagged by a Krogan.  LOL  This even caused Grunt to chuckle.

I didn't know females got that request too.
Somehow, it makes much more sense for male Shepard, because the genophage, if I recall correctly, affects krogan females, so a fertile female is extremely valuable in their society. Therefore, such request is indeed a great honor (even though the situation is very humorous). If Shepard is female, however, it just means that some krogan wanted to get horizontal with her.

maybe it's just me, but i had to stop the game after that and just laughed for a couple of minutes. Only question afterwards: Did that mating request come from a male or female Krogan? Seeing the power the females hold, it seems unlikely, that a male would issue such a request. So my conclusion was: A female Krogan heard that a Krogan and a Krantt defeated a maw, and somehow now one was interested in mating with that Krantt, so she took her chances. Made me laugh a couple more minutes

so how does that make more sense? Neither Shepard could produce offspring with a krogan, so in the end, both are just about getting horizontal.

Both are honored by that mating requests, seeing how only strong krogan are allowed to do that.

Oh, man, it's good to be an asari, isn't it? They don't have problems like that at all. Add to that their racial beauty (mostly everyone in the game finds them attractive) and the fact that the child is always an asari... well, one likely scenario is that asari are going to outbreed everyone in the galaxy.

Asari won't go extinct due to normal causes anytime quick, that is for sure.
Especially since they also live for an incredibly long time.

No, a breeding request from a female is presumably an honor in krogan society, because of the important role of fertile krogan females. A request from a male krogan is just, well, a suggestion to get laid.

The humorous part is that they won't be able to have children anyway (I think the krogan can only have children with the asari, and even then those childred will be asari). Still, a request from a female krogan is more, well, significant.

Thousand year life span combined with the ability to breed with any living creature and produce a child of your species. Yep, they will breed everyone else out of existance.

I'm not saying they'll go extinct. On the contrary, I'm saying they have a good chance to outbreed everyone, i.e. breed everyone out. The good thing is that their race is far too civilized to do that.

Well, even a request from a Male Krogan is an honor in its own little way, it means a Male Krogan actually thinks you, a human, are sturdy enough for sex, and there is probably a bit of strange respect there, in its own way.

their long lifespans actualy make their breeding somewhat slow, they dont breed until matron stage, so say an asari has 3 children those 3 children wont add more children to the asari population for hundreds of years

Yeah, that's why I said it's a good thing they are far too civilized to do that. Actually, I believe an average asari matriarch has more than 3 or 4 children, but not considerably more.

Otherwise, you'd have another krogan race. A lifespan of about one thousand years and breeding like there's no tomorrow. And, unlike the krogan, the asari are far too powerful for any other race to pull tricks like the genophage or genocide.
