I've tried to find info in the comprehensive bug list thread, but didn't find anything and I don't want to spam it with questions when I'm not sure it's a bug or not. Hence, this new topic. Ok, on to my question.

When I recently played a mage I noticed that (around level 17, not entirely sure which one) I started to get only one point to spend on attributes when I leveled up. Ok, fine I thought, though I was a little confused since my companions still got all three points for each level. Then when I leveled up to level 20 I got three points to spend again. It seems to me like this might be a bug, but I couldn't find anything in the bug list and I doubt I would be the first one to experience this if it was a bug. So if anyone could give me an explanation to this, I would be most grateful.

You are rewarded points for completing certain story events, though it is only one point generally which is what you may be getting confused with. The game tells you that you have a level up but you technically have not, the exact same scenario is also true for skill books.

Aha, that might be it! Yes, I know about the books, but I didn't know about the story events. To be honest I never really keep track of how full my "level bar" is so I might very well have confused a couple of story event bonuses with normal levelling. I'll try to keep that in mind for my next playthrough. Thanks for the reply!
