I know that story wise it makes sense but I really disliked how going to the collectors ship and the other human colony(I can't for the life of me remember the name) were forced upon you anyone else think was kind of a heavy handed tactic?  Yeah it moves the story along and blah blah whatever but I don't know something about it just didn't feel right.  Maybe I'm just under the impression that if Saren and his all life destroying plan can take a back seat to my mako exploring then so can a few hundred thousand missing humans.

TIM: Shepard, we've just gotten info that the collectors are attacking a human colony...

Shepard: Oh yeah? Well, I've almost got enough resources to improve the normandy's guns, just let me grab that quick.

TIM: But...

Shepard: *Disconnect*

Shepard: Ok, got em installed, time to save some colonists!

TIM: They're all gone you douchebag.

Right, I get it im just wondering why stopping a plan that wants to end all life somehow is portrayed as less important than one thats just kidnapping humans.

The crew abduction one was a little accelerated, I got the IFF, did one scan mission on a planet (maybe two) and as I tried to dock at the Geth station the Collectors done rolled up in their ride and jacked my peeps(yo?)..

So I did the Legion mission and went through the Omega Four relay and when i get to the crew Chakwas is all "WTF Shepp, you ass? Everyone is dead since you are a **** ****er and should have been here sooner."

So now I know that with Kelly's DNA all munched up in there, the Reaper is just a giant, love starved minx.

er... becuase its all involved in the same quest.

The collectors are being controlled by the reapers.
The collectors are stealing whole human colonies.
Shepard is protecting the universe and humanity.
A colony is attacked, where Shepard is being used as bait to lure the collectors in, you have time to get there and stop them, AND get vital information about the collectors, such as how to operate the omega 4 relay and find out whats on the other side.

You would be a bit stuffed if you didnt take the chance to find out about the collectors from the attack whilst you could.

The mission doesn't always go as you want.

Welcome to real life.
