But I do agree with a couple of the points raised about Jacob as FemShep, like: Her pursuit of him seems like taking advantage of her position and forcing something onto him he doesn't want. His dialogue regarding Miranda seems if not poorly written - in terms of expressing what the writers want him to - than at the very least directed at a ManShep and not a FemShep.

Ashley. Was happy to let her die at Virmire. I don't even like upping her weapons and armor in the game to keep her alive longer... waste of resources since I wanted her gone. And I never took her anywhere, ever, with me. I got fed up of her constant whining "I wish you had got there sooner.." Reality Check! We were only 2 people. What on earth could we have done that her squad of far more folk couldn't do against overwhelming numbers of Geth, apart from die too? Nope, I hated Ashley.
Criticizing Ashley for being emotional about Eden Prime is unfair. She lost her entire platoon - including a squad people she was responsible for. Do you know how many people are in a platoon? 30-50. She watched them all die. It's human nature to grasp for understanding, excuses, anything to come to grips with that kind of sudden, brutal horror. Plus, she seemed to get over Eden Prime - at least to the point of not always mentioning it - after a reasonable amount of time. Granted, it's replaced by divisive (to fans) family stories, poetry, and faith.
That being said, I like Ashley but I let her die at Virmire too. It seems like a satisfying arc for a Williams in that it restores their family name in the eyes of those who still held her grandfather accountable for the surrender at Shanxi. I feel like Kaidan has to do a lot more to have had an interesting story in the ME trilogy, so he lived in my game.
