there should have been an option to put a bullet in Legion's optic instead of bringing it onboard the Normandy.

-Tries to send vital Migrant fleet info to the rest of the Geth.

Said migrant fleet that wants to go to war with the Geth, kick them off the homeworld and/or RE-ENSLAVE THEM.
Yeah I think Legion is justifed in doing that. Plus the fact that he can relent on this issue shows he's capable of reason.

Seriously ever since the Migrant fleet left what is now Geth space, the (non-Heretic) Geth have left them the hell alone. It's the Quarians who are being hostile and planning war.
If anything this proves the Geth were right to kick the Quarians out, they're too damn hostile and stupid to co-exist with, whereas the Geth just want to be left alone.

There is a big distinction between Geth and the "Heretics." The heretics were what caused you problems, as is fully explained by Legion. A subtle flaw was introduced into their programming that they couldn't adapt to (unlike a straight out virus attack). They were turned into thinking that the Reaper was a god. The real Geth had no part of that at all. The heretics reassembled and reactivated taking over the flotilla ship, and spent the better part of ME1 attacking you. It's amazing the kind of intelligence you can get from a "prisoner."

And sure, they don't give you much choice in the matter, but a fully intact geth prisoner would be the first in the galaxy. That's nothing to sneeze at. I was first in line as a renegade and paragon to grab him and haul him in. Renegade to sell him for the credits (who cares who it's to... credits are credits) and as a Paragon for the good chance to find out what exactly is up with the Geth.

The potential goldmine in credits or intelligence is overwhelmingly in favor of taking him. Just too bad a good renegade doesn't get to auction him off to the highest bidder.

Justified in wanting to warn them, definitely.  Justified in going behind a squadmates back and scanning her omnitool?  Absolutely not.  Given the option, my main Shepard would have shot him right there as a spy.

Legion is just too cool,  I'd shoot tali before I got rid of legion.

Metagaming.  I like Legion myself, however my Shepards don't trust him after spending a game and a half fighting Geth.

You aren't fighting Geth per say.  Talk to Legion, and do his loyalty quest.  It'll all become perfectly clear.  You are fighting the heretics in ME1, and in ME2.  Not the Geth.... small distinction, but a very important one.

Meh, your Shepard is just racist against AI and is just looking for opportunities to kill and/or get rid of Legion instead of trying to get as many allies as possible to fight against the reaper threat. Your Shepard is also ignorant if he/she can't understand that not all geth are the same.

that's fine and everything, don't mistake me. Legion's an interesting character and gives a lot of insight into the ME universe. but you have to bring it onto your ship, activate it, and recruit it for your team before you learn any of this. from a roleplaying perspective i don't see Shepard doing so.

I would argue that Legion picking off Husks aboard the derelict Reaper, opening the way for Shepard into the Mass Effect core therein, and actually speaking to Commander Shepard, warrant at the very least a discussion with him, from a roleplaying perspective.

Once that's been accomplished, one can see that he indeed wishes to help Shepard, rather than hinder him/her.

And THAT is why you don't hand Legion over to the blue eyed dick in the suit.

Your Shepard must have gotten where he/she is through sheer luck if he/she never takes risks. Your Shepard must also not really consider what you're doing a suicide mission if he/she is being picky about squad members. And finally, that geth sniped enemies behind you when it could have shot you in the face, don't be so thankless.

When my main Shep brought Legion on bard it was specifically to try and interrogate the Geth.  It wasn't for recruitment.  I  don't recall ever actually welcoming him as part of the crew until he offered his services.  And then I didn't say I trusted him, just like I told the Cerberus crew, and every NPC I came across.  It just happened that he provided a boat-load of intel in the first conversation so that the trust grew.  And when he proved himself on the loyalty quest I then considered him part of the crew.

And if it's so weird to put a Geth in the AI room, why is there an assassin in the life support?  Why is Jack down near the engine core?  Placement wasn't a choice, it was done by Bioware.
