ME 2 a huge dissapointment compared to ME 1.

And yet you're hatemongering as well.To the people supporting the OP though and to that guy who's name i forget claiming that ME1 was (TEH GRATEST GAM EVA!) :
If giving an honest opinion on something is hate-mongering then fair enough. But I used the term in the context of people slagging off other people, I didn't do that but I suppose I should have made myself clearer.

You do know that when ME1 came around the old forums were crowded by people complaining about how it is not an RPG, the Mako was evil, and its shooter elements. Yet that same crowd sucked it up and enjoyed the game in the end. Now those same people have come to whine about ME2, and in a good few months from now or even a year at most they will shut up and play it just like they did with ME1.
I said, ME1 had a lot of flaws that needed fixing. I never said that ME1 was the best thing since sliced bread even though I think it was better than ME2.

As for my opinion, ME1 was a very fun and immersive, yet flawed , game. ME2 was the logical continuation of the idea and although it has its flaws (Bring back the weapon mods!) it was even better.
You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
I liked ME2 and thought it was a good game, but for me personally I don't think it was the continuation that ME1 deserved, it just doesn't feel the same, as wether for the better of for the worst too much of what made ME1 what it is has been changed.

the overarching story may be weaker compared to me1, but the characters are much better drawn and deeper when compared to the first - you actually do a mission for each which shapes their lives in some way.
Given that you started this thread before making it 1/3 of the way through the game, did you actually give it a chance to overshadow its flaws like you say me1 did (which it did)?

mate - no offense but don't you think when you reach that level that it's nitpicking?

It isn't nitpicking, its that atention to detail what makes ME1 one of the most inmersive video game experience ever

If the OPs ganna b*tch about something b*tch about the fact we can't go back to almost none of the places we went to in ME1. In ME2 I expected we'd have that chance but then after playing about 5 hours in, I started to notice we couldn't. Take the Citadel for example oO limited to a few lvls ? we can't even explore the precidium ! Over all ME2s a great game I even liked the ammo clip idea as it is based on magnetic ballistics which mind you do exist there just experimental... Also about the (There's no OmiGel!) I'm glad that is gone as I remember near the endgame in ME1 I'd start getting some nice gear only to find out I need to meltdown something that Ooh maby I didn't want to do that too >.>. But other then the game not being more open ended from ME1 an a few minor details (irrelevant really) ME2 was a great game.
did you ever use the bought star maps? i for some reason cant find the places where i wanna go cause i bought 2 of them at the citadel
Yes I have bought all the maps etc, you just can't go back to nearly anywhere you went to in ME1 which I would have thought would of been nice...but I guess Bioware didn't think it was worth it. >.<

not quite what i mean - me1 had texture pop-ins, now fixed. This didn't ruin the experience, so to single out something like missing helmet oxygen tubes which is a smaller issue and afffects immersion less seems like an unfair double-standard. Why are the issues in me2 so much more offensive to you than those in me1? I just don't get it!
There is a big difference between a technical problem and a blatantly omission.
And to be fair, pop-ins aren't that bad on PC

They did more, but made it feel like less.
I've done finished 4 play thru's (2 insanity, 2 hardcore) (Engineer, Vanguard, Infiltrator & Sentinel) - I find ME2 by far, largely disappointing. I now find myself going back to ME1 and finding a better story and characters. Sure the game play in ME2 is better, but only marginally.
Yes ME2 has more squad mates, but other then 2 or 3, they are not just as "alive". By having too many new unique squad mates - each one of them is watered down. The dialog between your squad mates is now limited between each other.
The new loot system is no better then the old system - they did a 180 and got it wrong by making it TOO simple. (They got the armor right at least..)
The new mineral/exploring system was in the wrong direction too. The ME1 problem was the controls with the MAKO and too many overly mountainous terrains, and instead of improving on these MINOR complaints, Bioware basically threw a hissy-fit and gutted it for a totally boring system - for spite.
The new worlds, while look more amazing and alive, are smaller and feel even more lifeless and lack the grand scale of things that ME1 provided.
While I don't mind some limited path missions, when that is what the entire game consisted of - it feels, restrictive, boring. Granted ME1 was the same, but at least the worlds and some missions felt huge and expansive - ME2 some how makes everything seem.. "smaller".
ME2 took too many minor flaws found in ME1, and instead of improving or applying minor fixes, they went out and decided to do it a completely different way.
ME2 alone - if it did not follow ME1 (or expand off of ME1), I would call ME2 a 9.5 game. But since ME2 follows ME1, its a 7. Good, but to many flaws and nagging differences to call it excellent.
Oh.. and let me **** about the new ME2 romance love scenes too - watered down garbage, pure and simple.

Pop-ins were really bad on ME1. They're barely noticeable on ME2, which I think is incredible.
It was a ut3 Engine related problem, BioWare coulnt do much about it. Hell, even epic's ut3 games had that pop in.
This problem seems to be solved on this new Unreal Engine 3.5 though

I love you. I loved Mass Effect. And well, although Mass Effect 2 was not a HUGE dissapointment, it did lack that emotional feel. While Mass Effect did have plenty of boring side quests, it almost felt you had the "Universe" in your hands. Mass Effect 2, like Murmillos stated, made everything feel/look small. Don't get me wrong Mass Effect Fanboys, it's a great game and I am NOT complaining.
I started my BioWare Experience with Mass Effect. It was nothing I had ever seen before. The story was huge, expanisve, and left it all up to you. The small squad that followed with every choice you made was incredibly touching, and never once did you not think twice when choosing an option that would ultimatly make or break a team member. I'll never forget saving Wrex.
In Mass Effect 2 the game was thrilling, the action and gameplay had been ultimatly improved (some gamers might argue), but the story was just so... So Gears of War 2. In fact, it was almost exactly like it. We began just how Mass Effect began, searching for new teammates to fight the feared enemy that was stealing our colonists. This was quite the adventure but was very drawn out, sometimes fewer is better. Then you could choose to dig deeper into each character, doing each of there missions. Now, although this made you grow a little more attatched to that certain squadmate, this soon became a tedious effort. Then the Main Story popped up and the game was done. It was a very fast experience that, even by completeing the side quests, felt rushed.
I must say I enjoyed Mass Effect more than Mass Effect 2, and I felt the Universe was lost. It is a great game, but will not be joining Mass Effect as one of my favorite games.
Love, K3rmit

Only thing that bothered me (well 2 things really) was this
No environment suits. I am pretty sure that Jack is gonnna need more than a breath mask to stay alive in a hazardous environment. (That goes for everyone else as well). Oh and high heels for the ladies. Yes they're sexy but so impractical it makes me sick. How well do women actually maneuver in those things> You really thing they are for rough terrain and running no less?
Come on bioware, next time please dont insult our intelligence. You can have sexy and practicality in the same thing. Dont turn your game into Bayonetta or Heavenly Sword. Just bothers me.
But other than that, the other changes were awesome. Enjoyed them, and hope to see more of it

Sorry but the talent point system is not streamlines, its dumbed down so that any moron can think they have done something epic, when in reality the combat system is so noob friendly that even on insanity you do not seed to spend talent points.
WTB a game built around great gameplay and great story rather then decent story with mongoloid level gameplay.
