Wow....are you naive.  I don't think I've ever seen a less true statement on these forums.

Agreed. The say us fans have in what goes into Bioware's games is negligible. To play devil's advocate for a moment though, that's true for most if not all game developer's and fans.

In turn taking away Xbox players and limiting it to PC players, losing sales.

NO. It doesn't take away from Xbox players, it would only "take away" from Xbox players if an MMO was PC exclusive DLC for ME2. A new game in the same universe that isn't on consoles is just that, a game in the same universe not on consoles. It would be sold to PC players but Xbox players would still have other ME games.

You assume the 'story orientated mode' of The Old republic is going to work and be a success. I remain skeptical, but we'll see. I simply don't see how you can have an interesting story in a persistent world with millions of players. It just isn't possible.

As for The Old Republic's claim. Perhaps it will. We'll see. However, every single MMO makes this claim when it comes to realising and preserving the world's lore and achieving an interesting and immersive story and RPG. Anyone who has followed MMO history and has basic pattern recognition skills can see they never really work out and I see no reason or evidence that would convince me a ME MMO would work. Perhaps TOR will prove me wrong. But I doubt it. Call me negative.

It's Bioware's decision in the end, but I vote no for an MMO. There's plenty of them out there. And if Bioware already have one running, it makes no sense to have 2 at the same time anyway.

actually, it doesn't sound that bad.....except for where the krogan wouldn't side with the salarians b/c of the genophage.

I want to see how Bioware handles TOR before I pass any judgement on a Mass Effect MMO. If it's done poorly then I don't want Bioware to ruin their franchise. Bad MMO's are good at leaving awful tastes in your mouth.

SWTOR is not going to be a success, so modeling anything after that would be a mistake.

As far as the general idea for an ME MMO, I don't really know.  It would have to be something like The Agency or Global Agenda (MMOFPS) since the traditional MMO style won't work for an action game.  Unless it's something like EVE where it's totally focused on the space combat.  I would rather another company make the MMO, since BioWare is too stuck on having story be the only part of the game that makes up the MMO.  Then again, that other company may ruin the ME universe indefinitely.

This is what happens when you talk out of your ass.

Please, tell me where you got the idea that Bioware was going to make a story-only MMORPG?

If you knew anything at all about SWTOR, you would know that Bioware Austin is full of MMORPG developer veterans with experience pooled from many many MMORPG's.  What they are doing, is adding a good Bioware style story-element to the game (and it doesn't hurt that every NPC interaction is going to be voiced, that's really going to break the monotony of leveling).  That doesn't mean that there isn't going to be the same elements and utilities found in any other MMORPG.  They KNOW that for an MMORPG to be a success, there HAS to be a good amount of end-game content that will take players quite some time to get through before content updates.  There will be an economy, PvP, PvE, raiding, and all the other end-game things expected of an MMO in this day.

I have mixed views on MMOs. I used to love them. I used to play Perfect World nearly every day for a few hours each time I logged on. I got pretty good and it started taking like 20 hours per lvl. I went on a week vacation and everyone I played with shot above me. Then I actually thought about MMOs. You really do the exact same things with just more skills. I might consider getting SWTOR just because if they add things like force jump and stuff into lightsaber fights, it would be pretty epic. It would be like GUNZ and a MMO combined. Other then that, it's kill these mobs for x amount of money till you get to this level. Go to this dungeon and kill this boss. That was lvl 1-10. Rinse and reapeat for lvls 11-20, etc.

An ME mmo......
1. Create char called Shepard
*Name already taken*
2. Create char with name similar to Shepard, like Shephard
3. Create guild called "SSV Normandy"
4. Go on raids into geth bases with a party consisting of 3 Shepard name variants, 1 *I**ty looking quarian and a freak of nature
5. ???

Cant really see it working.

I know half of you in here would relish at the opportunity to make a female quarian character. Imagine all the fun you would have picking non-combat outfits for her.

Anyway, what ImperialOperative said, his post is well informed.

ME MMO might not have new Reaper threat, but who knows what the galaxy could hold..

i think it'll work. But it wont be anytime
soon. everyone's computers and internetspeed would need a upgrade. for
me i would like it to look great like me2(impossible) or not way off
because it wouldn't feel like ME...

Would be cool if we could
pick different races. :P Salarian, Krogen etc. Camo places for important
characters in the ME universe would be fantastical too. hee-hee
(reporting to Wrex. Being trained under Shepard/Garrus in advanced
classes/n7 status.. seeing the SR2 flying around from time to time etc
etc)

ah i can dream:whistle:

edit: oh obviously you wont be playing
as shepard. you'll be a character in the ME universe :D

...I can't help but laugh at the thought of a ME MMO doing better than WoW though.

Edit: Only a minority seems to even want the MMO anyways.

I don't see how an MMO after the end of the core trilogy would hurt the series. As long as the trilogy doesn't end with a cliffhanger and a picture saying "buy Mass Effect: Online to find out what happens next!"

They're watching.  Don't give them ideas.Posted Image

Actually, if they did make a ME MMO, I'd hope they'd stick it a thousand years in the future from the trilogy- this pushs you far enough that you can refer to Shepard and his/her actions vaguely, as well as giving time for tech and culture changes that would be necessary.

I think that a ME MMO would be fine, I would get it. So long as they only focus on that after they finish ME3.

It might work but I wouldn't buy it. I find most MMO's have NO replay value whatsoever and I'v ended up wasting $5000 or however much EB games decides to sell it at.

Unless the combat and questing aspect is the same as ME I really think it'd be bad and the money would be better spent elsewhere in the franchise.

I love it.

Riddle me this guys n' gals;

Why is it you want an MMO? seriously, I don't get it.

The main draw to the ME world is story.

You think mmo concepts, which are designed to keep players playing, so the companies make money of your subscriptions would really feel like ME?

Think about that.

Like so what, you can make a Krogan, or a Quarian, or whatever.

Aside that, what is the draw?

You want this because ME1/2 are awesome, I understand that. But an MMO would need to bring in a whole bunch of stuff that is not part of what makes ME great.

I don't want to say don't hope for it, or something, hope for it if you really want it, but I don't think you can encapsulate what makes ME great with an MMO.

Like if your just some random race in a group like the alliance, or flotilla etc, who cares about that? Right now your Shepard. The galactic equivalent of Bruce Willis. You kick ass. You're the best of the best. You're taking on stuff that has wiped out races for millions of years, and your going to win.

No MMO character you could get would ever compete with Shepard, and Shepard and his/her story IS Mass Effect.
