Being constantly broke in ME2 is ridiculous

If you are on your 2+ playthrough in a game that carries over inventory you should automatically expect to have inventory management issues. It is just a result of over playing the content. DLC also changed the equation for people and that is entirely ignored as well. ALl these outside factors that explain all the issues they had and force these players to look at the real issue are ignored in favor of demonizing the whole system.
And as a direct result the developers make drastic changes hoping to make completely unreasonable customers happy.
A simple auto loot system would have completely fixed every problem anyone has ever presented about ME1's inventory but that was totally ripped off the tabled by people who would rather have a scapegoat then admit to skewing their "facts" to fit some theory they developed in their crap cannon thinking chamber,

Deal with it
How are you suppose dto "find money" when THERE ARE NO MORE MISSIONS? I clearly stated that I have done everything except the end. Next time kid, try reading people's entire post before you troll.
Sleepy, I'm with you man. I don't mind having to budget, etc, but I do not like the idea that there is nothing I can do to become fully upgraded, bar getting lucky/cheating in the Varren gambling pits. Fine, make us work for it but don't make it impossible to fully upgrade. That's just frustrating.

I never cheated in any way, so my personal experience tells me that statement is false. I do know that you, as I mentioned before, can aquire X-level Spectre weapons for everyone from the C-Sec and Normandy vendors, as well as XIII- and sometimes IX-level Colossus or Predator S/M/L pieces from other vendors once you reach level 50. I believe I purchased all my pieces on my last 60-level playthrough, and never saw a piece drap as loot, (meaning in two playthroughs...) but it was a month ago, so I can't say for sure.ZennExile wrote...
It does take cheating to aquire these things on the first playthrough,
I did, however, play the PC port of the game, so maybe the experience in Windows was somehow different from the original experience on the 360. I do remember having the same issues before Bring Down the Sky, so perhaps something was tweaked in the port. I wouldn't pretend to know.
Anyway, like I've said before, the inventory was the only thing I didn't like about the first game. But it was not game-breaking to me in any way. Just a hassle. I mean, hell, if it really bothered me that much I wouldn't have finished the game 8 or 9 times, and I wouldn't be planning to go back and play it again this summer. What I will say is that I've come to like the system in the 2nd game, after believing that I would not. I just don't miss loot as much as I expected to. I think of the inventory in Mass Effect 2 as more of a hidden loot system. You're constantly upgrading everything, so you're essentually getting new equipment all the time, you just don't realize it because you're not taking it off a corpse. To parallel it to the first game, instead of going from some Pistol IV to a new Pistol V, you're actually going from Heavy Pistol 1/5 to Heavy Pistol 2/5, and so on. Although you're really not, because you're still using the same Hand Cannon. It's just getting better. There's still a progression there, in other words, it's just a different one. And the credits have are basically the game selling all that junk that I sold in the first game for me.
The other thing I like is that credits seem to have some value now. It's an adjustment from what I'm used to in RPGs, where I tend to just hoard money by the truckload and can get whatever I want. Whereas in this game, although it's less of an issue now that I have the starting bonuses, I actually have to pick and choose what to buy, at least to a degree. Although I finished yesterday on an Infiltrator that has just under 100k credits in the bank and purchased every single upgrade except for bypass and hacking.
As myself and others have pointed out, I really do think the major difference is finishing that Long Service Medal. Those 200K bonus credits make all the difference in the world.

I ignored the upgrades for the Hack and Bypass modules 25k each which gave another 50k free to use for a weapons upgrade. You don´t need those two at all to complete the mini games.
if you ask me it is better than having 999999 credits with nothing to spend it on like in ME.
EDIT:
forgot to mention that I also got a boost of 5 xp levels with my council saving character.

I don't understand how people have problems with this, do you just NOT hack any wall safes? Half the money terminals don't even need hacked...
I mean I haven't even done half the N7 missions yet and I've just about bought everything... I'll get that hamster sooner or later
I'm on my second playthrough, so I got the bonuses in credits and resources. I stop and hack every terminal I come across. I have also completed all but one N7 mission on this playthrough. There are about 350K-400K in upgrades out there left for me to buy and implement and only 3 or 4 loyalty missions left before the IFF and the endgame. I may pull it out but it's going to be real close. You sure you've maxed out all your upgrades at 5/5 and have all the Normandy upgrades as well?

I have a character that finished up yesterday that has all the upgrades except for Hack and Bypass (including 5/5 heavy skin weave, and 6/6 in heavy ammo), purchased the fish, hamster and model ships, picked out the armor pieces I wanted for each part of my suit, and still has a bit less than 100k credits left in the bank. Except for Hack/Bypass and not going crazy buying armor pieces, I didn't do anything particularly stingy, not like trying to conserve fuel or probes like I've seen people mention. I just did what the things you mentioned, playing through all the N7 and loyalty missions, hacking and bypassing anything I could.sedrikhcain wrote...

I didn't buy everything on the first one, and I still don't believe it's possible to do so without the Long Service Medal, although I've seen people say they have. My second run was for the Insanity Achievement, and I didn't do all the N7 missions because I just wanted to finish the game as quickly as I could (still took me 45 hours), so I don't believe I bought the last Heavy Skin Weave. The one yesterday was my third playthough, and as I mentioned I didn't have any problems at all credit-wise.

Anyway the credits issue is just one silly thing in upgrades. Scanning planets manually is silly. I'd rather tell the ship's AI to handle it while I go chat up all the characters and NPCs to see if they have something to say. Also finding "upgrades" to some of your weapons at 10 year old crash sites [Jacob loyalty quest] seems silly. On the bodies of Eclipse Mercs or in a "prison" .... all equally silly.
I think finding or buying upgrades should have been limited to:
-- Sites the Geth were at
-- Sites the Collectors were at
-- Sites of "Ancient Prothean Ruins"
-- High end experimental labs / High end black markets / etc.
This way you have a really high incentive to do all the side quests because many of the above upgrades would only be found during your side quests / scanning random planets for anomalies / etc.

In ME2, I have 10 credits and nothing I can afford.
In ME3, I hope to have 10 billion credits and unlimited upgrades

Then you just gotta sit through 20 more replies about how his idea makes perfect sense so I should replace my opinion with his because his is better. What purpose would that serve? The answer is none.
Much easier to get them to act stupid and burn out quickly. Then you don't have to sift through the massive pile of nonsense later. I did you all a favor. And the retard was only trying to troll me because he thinks I'm someone else... Why doesn't anyone pay attention to context any more...
There there, Zenn. It's okay. You win. Yes, you made me cry and commit suicide. Yes, I double posted because I couldn't stand how everyone in the forum sees you as a complete joke. You can stop sweating and take your sausage fingers away from the keyboard now. Everyone who disagrees with you is a dirty, filthy cheater. Go to sleep.
Anyway, yes, the inventory system is redundant and stupid, and even with the ME1 import and Long Service bonus I find it hard to get all the money for everything. I still need to skip vanity items, armor and cut down my exploring to make enough creds.
It's to the point where I chose the Renegade option for Zaeed's mission not because I wanted to, but because doing so gets you the Assault Rifle upgrade over the Heavy Weapons Ammo upgrade. At the store an AR upgrade cost 50k, while the HWA upgrade only costs 20k.

I got all upgrades for the ship, and all the armour/weapons/shields/powers I could find.
However, I had to prioritize what weapons I wanted to upgrade. I only maxed out the 2
guns that my team used, and then took the others only half way.
Meh. It was a trade off, but I was able to pass the game without losing anybody so I'm happy.
Just accept the fact that you can't power-game the $ in this one.

Before you buy anything get the discount. I to had a bit over 100k left with all upgrades completed. Ensure you get the discount ALWAYS

At the end I had a total of 1,111,062 credits and the total to buy all the upgrades from the shops came to 1,330,000. I am 220,000 credits short. If I forgo the two hack upgrades for 50,000 it still leaves me 170,000 short.
Perhaps you can buy everything if you use an ME1 import so you could get the discount for that weapons merchant as well but I have not found it to be the case with just a NG+.

want help? heres some pointers...
1. Search everywhere! dont screw up with hacking/bypassing things for more creds...
2. EVERY store in the game can offer you a discount! Dont buy anything from the store if you can get a discount from it 1st (eg, do Grunts loyalty mission before you buy anything from the medi-lab store)
3. Only buy upgrades that are helpful to YOUR Shepard, dont worry about everyone else. Bying them to upgrade your squad teammates stuff is pretty dumb seeing as you wont see any difference in the battles.
To OP this is how I did it then filled up the rest afterwards. Like he/she said do not buy anything until you have the discount period.

Just get the discounts first use a neg bonus and make such you beat the minigames fast you get the amount of money that the time says if left. Plus after the IFF and Legion misson you would have had enough money thus negating the I can't afford it all argument anyway.

This is the first game I've played where the universe simply ran out of money and it wasn't enough.
THIS!!!
That statement perfectly sums up how ridiculous the situation is. You are nickled and dimed for fuel and probes. You have tons of spare ores in your cargo hold that you can't do anything about. You kill legions of bad guys but after they are dead you can't pick up their guns and even sell that for scraps. But oh wait, your sponsar is a gazillionaire who wants you to succeed at all cost...unless you are talking about a lousy 150-250k creds.
Ha! I'm on my 4th playthrough, was just on Tuchanka, too broke to buy anything from the Scientist, and I had the same exact thought. Cerberus spent Billions to get me to Tuchanka, but can't front me enough cash to keep me in gear. I was wishing I could talk to TIM and ask for a loan. Now I'm stuck on the Collector Ship, on Insanity, getting killed within 30 seconds.
On my 1st playthrough I bought the nice fishies, and cool models, and everything I could get my hands on, but not anymore! Don't even try to sell me that 30K Bypass module!
So I agree with OP, if you're willing to earn the credits, they should be there for you. Let us sell the ore, or give us enough side-missions to earn the money we need.
Here's a thought - in Fable II you could buy shops and rental property, and earn money from those. In ME why not let us get patents on our "Research" and earn royalties from that?

A DLC which includes a 'Minerals Broker' would solve alot of problems. Those who need money could sell minerals, those who want minerals can just buy it.
Ok yeah and a DLC for infinite money and resources and paragon and renagade and screw it infinite exp and all upgrades and multiple LI's and maybe even it will just play the damn game for you...
Really the first game felt cheap with so much money that you couldn't spend accually having to find all the money to get everything felt like I was trying to earn stuff. Saving up for my spify new shoulder pads felt like an achivment.

Not every shop has a discount. The weapons merchant on Ilium will only offer a discount if you've imported an ME1 save and do the Conrad Verner quest in the bar.
If you didn't, then Conrad Verner does not show up and you're sol.
Also, I've done all the quests available including all assignments without buying a single thing from any shop and picked up every possible upgrade along the way. But even so, the last set of remaining upgrades are always found in the shops and I could not afford all of them even with a NG+.
I've been wondering why the shopkeeper doesn't want to talk to me. It's like the only shop where I can't get a discount.
So I've imported an ME1 character. How do I activate the Conrad Verner quest?
