IRL, no, I wouldnt "kill" them lol...IRL, I just punch them in the face when they make passes at me (which more than one gay man has in my life).  But as long as they leave me be, Im fine with them.  Now in game, yes, I wouldnt hesitate to kill said character because it is precisely that, a game.  Image IPB

Admittedly, Im a goth so yea, by society's standards that puts me in that bracket probably which I have accepted long ago.  Dunno why, but that's just how its always been.  I guess some gay men are attracted to goth guys lol...Either way, it was fun pounding their faces and then breaking their noses with my head Jubei from Ninja Scroll style lol

...And yet I'm still scared. *sigh* I need a cookie.

Yes, that.
I just wish they had a character who wasn't involved in gratuitous fanservice say that.

People who persue only 'straight' options would never see them differently though.

They would hear about the character being gay or they would be romanced when they play an same sex char.

First of all I want to point this out before any one wants tosay I'm being a biggot. My mother is a lesbian I was raised by two women who were in love since I was 1 till I was 18 and moved out. That means the person I recognise as my father has breasts. I am straight I have a wife and a 3 year old daughter and i have no qualms about the gay/lesbian community.

Honestly the Devs stated this before in one of the many gay love threads. It has to do with the Character of Shep himself he isn't gay. The only reason you can have a gay relationship as a female Shep is because SHE isn't cannon so theres more leway there. It has nothing to do with being against gays or any other sort of biggotry.

They have stated the writers have a set story and established characters how they want in the Mass effect universe. Miranda isn't gay or bisexual so you can't "rub carpet" with her sorry. Niether is Tali or Jack. Though Jack is probally the closest to bisexual other then Sammara or Kelly Chambers.

This is the same reason why Shep can't have long hair. He/she is a soldier and has a soldier mindset from the writers standpoint so he/she has short mainly military styled hair cuts.

I'm sorry that people can't seem to grasp this concept but it doesnt change the facts about the ME storyline. Male shep isnt gay and Fem shep is limited to the Characters that are infact gay in the established storyline.

So? I hear about Renegade Shep doing truly awful things, but that doesn't affect how I play Paragon Shep. Everyone's playthrough is different. This would be no exception.

Yes, and making every character bisexual because you want so isn't.

If it doesn't subvert their characteristics, why not?

Yes, we should be beyond that. But changing every squad-member in Mass Effect just so everyone can romance them doesn't make a whole lot sense. I am openminded towards sex(uallity), but the fact is that the majority of humanity is still straight. Changing 50% of Shepard's squad to bisexual just doesn't make sense.

Um, no. ManShep is no more canon than FemShep. Both are.
Sheploo is just a mascot.

I seriously hope BW doesnt start giving fan service to the "gay" community. Seriously, (Asari aside and talking about RL anyway.) had nature intended for Humans to be "gay" they would have made it so that we can reproduce Asexually like the Asari. But, seeing as how (aside from adoption or artificial insemination) nature doesnt work that way, it makes homosexuality "wrong" from a nature standpoint.

I agree. To differ from the Natural Order is to be without purpose, to be defective. As an Athiest, my beliefs on this topic do not stem from blind "faith", but rather from a desire to adhere to the refining chaos which is natural selection and the natural order.

Come on, there is no way Miranda hasn't at least "experimented" in her time. :P She might not have been a f/f Ll in ME2 but I could completely see her character at least being interested in someone like FemShep.

Given that player control over the story is one of Mass Effect's main features, however, I have to agree those who support the idea. Extra VA work aside, I see no harm with allowing each player decide who (s)he wants to romance and the nature of that romance. If someone wants their ManShep to have an intimate relationship with Garrus, then more power to them.

Right.  The idea isn't to make all characters bi.  The idea is to let the player choose to romance whomever they like.  So if in my game I want to pursue a m/m relationship with Jacob or a f/f relationship with Miranda, Jacob/Miranda can be homosexual.  Meanwhile, in a game where a player prefers m/f relationships, Jacob and Miranda can be straight.

This isn't an attempt to hide the gay relationships, but to allow for player preference.

The trick is designing the interface a bit differently.  I agree getting hit on by everyone would be kinda lame.  So let the players make choices that flag dialogue options the game can pick up on, or simply mark potential romance options so players can choose them.

Everyone keeps using the word "bisexual".

Why do they have to be bi? Why cant they be straight or gay depending on the PC and how they want to play their game?

Make the characters sexuality ambigous is all I'm saying, no nessicarily "bisexual".

And sexual orientation is part of being "a person", unrelated to their race or gender. Ergo, changing that orientation creates a different person.

Now, you can still like this new, different person but there's no basis to insist they're absolutely the same character they were before.

But homosexuality occurs quite often in nature, so whos to say it doesnt have a purpose? Population control seems like a viable explination.

NO, it doesnt. Like Ive said about 50 times already in this thread, a persons sexualuality doesnt define them.
