i see lots of people pointing to the "girls' club" line as Jack claiming to be straight. i don't think that's what she meant at all. i think she was just telling Shepard that she wasn't interested in smalltalk.

That is also how I interpreted that line.  It never even occured to me that she meant she wasn't in to girls.  She was saying she didn't want to be chatty.

That was my interpretation as well. Jack just wasn't the sort of girl who wanted to get into the 'Shoes!' conversation with you and Lelianna. Image IPB

Pick three words to describe Leliana from Dragon Age. Doesnt really matter what they are.

"Cute" "crazy" and "funny"

Same for Zevran.

"Cheeky" "keniving" and "flirtascious"

It doesnt matter what words you use to substitue those three, but "Bisexual" wouldnt be among them. Same with Alistair, or Morrigan, Would you pick "Straight" to describe their character? No. Because someones sexuality doesnt define them as a person. It doesnt effect the character as a whole, and if it really bothers you, it shouldnt.

And as far as being spoiled, thats a really lame thing to say. I feel like this game was lacking in options. Three per gender, thats nice, but as a female, two of my options were aliens whom I had no romantic interest in at all (Garrus is the ****, but I don't want to sleep with him). And Jacob had the same bland personality all male romanceable character have in Bioware games.

Liara and Leliana were both a breath of fresh air, I can't tell you how excited I was for the potential options in ME2, and I got none. It was dissapointing. Very much so. I felt very let down by the ONE gaming company that seems to even bother giving a crap about gay romances.

I can only hope now at the very least that Liara will be a squadmate in ME3, because thats obviously the only gay romance Bioware is going to allow in this series.

Thank you so much for putting into words what i have been thinking when reading these posts. As a female bisexual gamer, I have been feeling a little...uneasy, at how people keep casually writing that sexual orientation defines your personality. And as for the *spoiled* comment...seriously? having a gay option makes us spoiled? really???

I seriously hope BW doesnt start giving fan service to the "gay" community. Seriously, (Asari aside and talking about RL anyway.) had nature intended for Humans to be "gay" they would have made it so that we can reproduce Asexually like the Asari. But, seeing as how (aside from adoption or artificial insemination) nature doesnt work that way, it makes homosexuality "wrong" from a nature standpoint.

And now you cannot accept that so you need to remake the game to fit your own personal preferance? Cuz thats what it sounds like.
This game had no real gay romances (kelly) why cant you just accept that?
Its not the norm to have gay romances in the gaming world but bioware gave you that in some games so now it must be in every game they make? Sounds like a child playing with lego imo

They never stated their reasons. I don't understand why everything has to be shrouded in assumptions and insinuations. They said it was a dev team choice. That's all we will ever get. Everyone will be a lot better off if they quit putting double meanings into every explanation from Bioware. If they say something, you just have to accept it. Its silly to blame Fox News or the media or anyone else for a private decision that they made, Its done and over. Quit inventing double meanings for everything they say. Just enjoy the game.

There is a difference between assumptions and insinuations, versus stating the obvious. Obviously this decision came from EA based on the whole fox news things.

Sorry but according to people who oppose same-sex romance, you don't exist. You'll just have to disappear in a puff of smoke.

What exactly should their personalities be like?  I never noticed there was anything more bland than anybody elses.  I think you people just enjoy hating on guys who are good looking.

I never said he wasnt good looking, that wasnt the issue.

Maybe you dont notice because he isnt a potential romance option for you? Assuming you are a straight man, you don't look at other men the same way straight/bisexual women do.

I had no problem with Jacob, but much like many other male romance options in Bioware games, he seemed forever stuck in the "friend zone" lol. It was fun watching him take off his shirt though...

I just wish BW would stop making these crappy cringe-worthy 'romance' scenes altogether and go back to the good old days of 'fade to black'.

So no, I hope BW don't start wasting time with more bi/homosexual options (as in these cutscenes, no problem with actual character dialogue though) not because I'm a homophobe but because I'd rather the devs spent more time on the actual game itself! My opinion on this also applies to things like fish tanks and collecting spaceships - 'Hi I'm Commander Shepard and I'm here to save the galaxy...right after I've fed the fish / stopped searching for that model of Sovereign?!'

Would people accept it if Bioware got rid of all romance options in ME3?  Or what if they offered only gay/lesbian options?  Would you call people who spewed venom on these forums spoiled and tell them to get over it?

Because her character is heterosexual.

Yeah I am not sure what the problem with Zevran was. It was easy to be platonic buds with him.

Indeed. I smell something... else, from the poster who claimed Zevran "practically jumps on males". He does not, unlike his behaviour towards the FemWarden, where the OTT flirting starts in the very first convo, when he's being held at sword point. Zevran brings up the "handsome Warden" bit once, and you can either pretend to not understand, or push him off. He won't "bother" you afterwards.

"Acceptance" isnt the problem. The game is already out, I don;t expect Bioware to "re-release it" or anything. I just dont see why the option wasnt included, or what their reasoning was for leaving it out.

True, I do enjoy the romances but I do not look at them the same way.  However enough women seem to love Kaidan and the other male LIs that I do not believe they were completely boring.

But mainly it is because I have to hear all the time about how much those characters are disliked.  It gets tiresome and annoys me a bit because it seems like they are being held to a standard that none of the other characters are held to.  I figured it was mainly because they were good looking the other male gamers automatically disliked them....but that might not be true.

Maybe it is simply much harder for us men to be loveable Image IPB

I'd have to agree on the bland-Jacob (Kaiden was just as bad...). I hope for a male miranda in ME3.

Clearly it does since you are crying for a gay romance in every single game they make. And yes dont kid yourself.  You would cry if it wasnt in me 3/DAO 2/Kotor 3.

Yes they should never include anything besides just the bare game...because Bioware games are terrible and their quality has really suffered?  No that is not it...

I guess this sort of attitude perfectly reflects your attitude towards gay romances also.  You probably stay up at night horrified that something somebody other than yourself might enjoy is being put into video games.

Clearly what does?  I have never started a thread about gay romances because they do not interest me personally, I am rather conventional in what I enjoy in romantic subplots, but I certainly have always supported those who want them.

There is nothing to discuss. In the ME universe, Miranda is heterosexual. Period. They could've made her bi from the beginning, but they didn't. She's straight.

So are the writers just suppose to allow every squadmate to be romanceable for both genders? That would mean they'd have to come up with 24 different Romance variables to please everyone (potentially more if other crew members are included).

What if someone wanted to romance Grunt, or Legion? Should a love option be included for them, or should those supporters be left out in the dust too?

I just don't see something like this as being very practical.
