Georg Zoeller says it's possible here: daforums.bioware.com/viewpost.html

Do any of you have any idea how to do that?

I am currently over whelmed by the area creation of the toolset (seems ridiculously advanced) and I just wanted to be able to at least make some form of mod. My goal is to make a modification of the main game to force playing as each of the monsters in the main quest. I was just wondering how do I force their starting appearance, sound set, stats, skills, talents and spells?

Any help or speculation would be GREATLY appreciated.

first you must disable the character generation. (it's in module_core start module event if IIRC). remove the lines preload chargen and start chargen. after that add your monster creation code.

look in sys_chargen to see how the chargen does it stuff.

So , I found the chargen thingie at the end of the module_core script ("handles character generation events sent by the engine"),

But how would you create the generation code for a simple - spawn creature / - control creature event.

(I have almost no idea how the scripting works in this game, and until I get the hang of it, I could use some pointers in the right direction if it's possible)

Alright. So I think I located it in the main module campaign. Please tell me if I am in the right place.

I opened up singleplayer.cif and then went into the scripts _Core_Scripts / Player_core and then scrolled down to StartCharGen.

I'm also not quite clear on the exact lines in the script that need to be deleted and where I locate the lines I want to use for the monster's appearance, skills, spells, stats, etc.

:] Enlighten me?

However, it is saying I can not modify it and that's protected. How do I get around this and edit it?

Anyone? Basically I just need to know how to edit the StartCharGen scrip when it says it's "read only" and what lines to delete and what to add.

If anyone could give me an example of how it would look with a random monster, they would be my hero forever.

Well to edit, I'm pretty sure you have to duplicate it first. As far as the scripting goes, I'm curious about that aswell.

You're taking a pretty big bite of the pie for someone new to the toolset. I would recommend reading the Toolset Wiki first and doing the simpler things like creating areas, conversations, and placeables (to get familiar with the nature of the toolset and scripting) before you try something ambitious like reprogramming campaign scripts (Yes they are complex).

If you absolutely must start off running, then remove the chargen and force-start your character with a premade appearance (read the wiki for more info, I'm not going to copypaste a wall of text).

It's not really about reprogramming a campaign. I was thinking about a more grand idea, but to start with, I'd need a small area with a human controlled creature. No connection to the campaign.
