Would of been awesome if we could of just chose a surviving char from DAO. Lets be honest here, wouldnt be too difficult either, just make their personal quest more or less the same. Would just need new dialogue. Would tie in nicely too with say "Origins" in awakening, ie, your choice on who you went with at the end of DAO. Sten, back to the quanari, ogrhen staying in denerim with whoever else stayed etc.

Poor kitten. You do realise this guaruntees you only see 1/9 of that content on a playthrough. Content which only 1/9th players will ever see is not going to be that significant.

So you'd miss abit of dialogue. Have you played DAO using every char throughout the game? You could argue your missing 5/9 right there. Im also sure that most would of played through each origins story at least once, soley for the experience.

Yes, us few who are hardcore enough DA:O fans to frequent the DA:O forums. 100% guantee the average player played threw once, at most twice.

I think something that is easily missed as the greatest advantage in dragon age is that the companions and the stories they tell was what drove the game forward. Dwelling into thier pasts was something awesome, but if we keep sticking with the same party for all eternity there will be nothing more than reactions to the world you travel, nothing new brought to the table. By spending some time away from these characters the reunion, which I do understand is not guaranteed to happen, will be all the sweeter. Now we got new characters to get to know, sure we can't romance them but that was just a small part of the experience. Hell on my first playthrough I didn't even consider romance untill the eve of the last battle came, still I enjoyed the game and its characters immensely.

We may very well see our companions again, and with more reasons to talk to them at a later point. Finding new characters to befriend or hate is what I feel dragon age was all about, and it added to the replay value immensely. If we could just take our old party with us intact the majority would not even consider trying the new companions, for the same reason I believe me2 made the right choice by using cameos on some of the old party and returning some characters permanently. This is just an expansion, not the future of dragon age but a sliver of what is to come.

You *can* get every character in the game in your camp in one playthrough. Just not at the same time. If you can only pick 1 of the 9 companions, it's guarunteed you only see 1/9 the content in a given playthrough.

Also big difference between content about 1/2 the players see and content 1/9 players see in terms of cost. One costs 4 or 5 times the dev time of the other per minute of gameplay.

I also gotta say, I spent well over 100 hours with these characters now... I dunno if I would want to spend another 100 hours with them.

Leliana
Sten
Alistair
Zevran
Wynee
All those characters really have had their story told...

These characters all have plenty of room to grow
Morrigan- Baby, crazy monster mother, on the fence of good and evil... could go any number of intresting ways
Oghren- I love him, but honestly, dwarfs a bit shallow. Something that can be fixed through more backstory and possible gray warden life changing event.
Shale (return to she dwarf)- Past and future very open
Loghain- Great character and perhaps the deepest of them all...

Not sure I entirely agree. Leliana, Zev and Sten are all gateways to different places and have rich backstories we've only seen hints of so far.  Much of their pasts can come back to haunt if you stay in Ferelden. If you ever travel abroad, they'll be essential. One of the things I'd love to do more than anything in the world of Dragon Age is to visit Orlais with Leliana and move through the various court intrigues.

Wynne's 'condition' has alot of directions one could go with. As does Shale. But its equally likely both earned a nice retirement.

Morrigan's story of course isn't told and at some point we'll get the fun of seeing Flemeth take over her monstergodbaby. That'll be a fun moment for those who went that road.

Loghain is deep only in the sense he's 6 feet under in my game. His story more than any other was in the past. If he showed more room for growth, Origins would have been a less interesting game.

Oghren had some funny moments but I don't see much going on with him that'll be terribly interesting. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Alistair is a tricky case depending on which route you went with him. While I certainly can see him in a background/supporting role going forward, I'd have no complaints listening to his banter for another 100 hours or so. He's about the only reason my warden hasn't gone off to visit Orlais already. Keeps me on track.

Just my opinion of course. I'm sure everyone varies wildly.

i agree with you, one of the things that came to mind as he knew leliana, completed his personal mission was that a future expansion were able to travel with her to orlais if Marjoline left to live, the
possibility that reconciled them, the conversations with her that also generates hope to
travel with her, as well as some possible endings

the same with zevran traveling to antiva  and know all the dangers,
adventures, according to what we had existed in "antiva, and better
than an ex-murderer who guide us through this adventure,

with sten is very possible because if you bring a good relationship with the
end you can travel to your home, this do not think I have put only by
filling

hopefully bioware  hear our views and consider the possibility of
including these adventures in expansions or DLCs, which I gladly would
acquire

Ya the above is also merely my opinion. Theres a saying "theres no such thing as bad characters only bad writers."

Lol, are you a comic fan? Do you know who Catman of the DC universe is? He was a lame 60's villian who eventually became a fat pathetic slob.

After years of absent, he was picked up by the amazingly talented Gail Simone, who had him go through a life changing event that turned him from pathetic wife beating fatty to a dual knife wielding bad **** that went toe toe with batman... and is now the leader of the Secret Six, a new and highly popular group of villians/anti-heroes, who save children in one comic and act as muscle for slave drivers in the next.

Long winded story short, any character can be a great character in hands which are talented enough.

Well there's a direction I never thought I'd see this conversation going. And yes you're completely right about Catman. He's a terrible character done very well in that series. One of my favorite current titles in fact. Image IPB

maybe for another expansion or DA2, if it continues w ith the Wardens adventure, you can let them pick Leliana or Zevran, since I know Zev will travel with you and help you rebuild the wardens if your a friend or romancing... it seems kind of weird that he wouldn't even though he is the only one who ever does with me, everyone else goes and does there own thing, minus Alistair if he isn't made king.

The hope that my complaints might be thought about and might influence future games is the only reason I'm writing here.

Yeah, good luck with that.

For some odd reason, I don't really think the devs listen to whiners who have no idea what they are talking about but still think they know more than the people making the things for them.

I bet that even where they live people sometimes go out and protest at the streets when they disagree with the govrement (if you live in a democracy that it).
Would you want them silenced? Next time it'll be you who's voice will be silenced.

Now you're comparing a VIDEO GAME MESSAGE BOARD ON THE INTERNET to an oppressive government.... okay...
