Ok so I've read the FAQ's for this and even talked to customer support both through the phone and on live chat support online and have not gotten an answer for this, so hoping somebody here could help. First I'll lay out the situation just so all grounds are covered:

• I beat Mass Effect in 2007 on my current HDD, getting to a level 37 soldier, and haven't touched it since then.
• Purchased ME2, then imported my charcter from ME1 and played through it and beat ME2.
• Then decided I wanted to replay my ME1 character so the new decisions would transfer over into ME2, so replayed my level 37 soldier, beating the game again and getting to level 56.
• Now I went to ME2 and tried to import the level 56 soldier, but it is unselectable, but still visible in the color orange.
• I called EA customer support, as well as using the live chat support feature and neither came up with answers for me.

Troubleshooting solutions include beating the game multiple times from the save checkpoint before defeating Saren, as well as having the game on the same memory storage device throughout with the same gamertag. All of these have been attempted and failed, so I am hoping there is someone out there who has had this problem or is willing to help. Thanks in advance for anyone who tries to help, I really hope I didn't just waste 20 hours on a second run-through...

I had tried it but since you mentioned it I turned on my second controller just to make sure and apparently the D-pad on my main controller isn't working cuz that did the trick haha. And not offended at all thanks for the advice it made me do something I hadn't thought of in trying another controller.... Thanks alot.
