I had no romance in ME1 or ME2 (other than flirting with kelly) after the game finished I get no message from her. Do you have to actualy be in a relationship with Miranda/Jack/Tali and split up with them to trigger it? that sucks.

Try save/load or go to some planet and return. I read it from the Internet, guaranteed to work! But I was wondering how to break up with LI from ME1? No amount of flirting helps while Liaras pic is on my desk there.

It doesn't work I have several characters and the only way I've managed to get Kelly is by romancing someone and breaking up with them. I thought if you stayed single you would be able to get kelly? someone help me out here..

You don't have to break up with them to get Kelly up into your room. Ash's pic was still on my desk as Kelly was shaking it for me.

I'll have to dig it up, but there is a detailed set of instructions for it.
Simple short formula is talk to her constantly, flirting every chance you get " are you into aliens?" seems to also be a key question to ask in the tree.
get her to dinner, get her to feed the fish. flirt more..
After saving her from the collectors you HAVE to ask her if she is okay...if you miss that, it's done
If you have any " semi-initiated" romances you need to close them out, or end them.
If you start dating anyone, kelly will back off.
Post game, if you have done all those, leave off the ship, when you get back she should alert you to a private message at your private com.
Kelly is a fling, not " a romance" so much.
however, devs said that they see ALL save data, and know if you romanced lelly or not.
so while there is a ' feeling' that a kelly fling wont hurt your ME1 LI....one can never be too sure

Well I just finished with a new character with no love intrests at all.. and kelly emailed. I wonder if it does count as cheating after all she messages you its not like you can say or no to her.
So far I have Infiltrator - Miranda Li
Sentinel - Faithful to Liara
Vanguard - No romance shepard because they'll likely add a new romance in me3 and I dont like to cheat xD
