I think it is time to do away with recruiting new squad members in ME3. I hope BioWare lets our Shepard start uniting the galaxy in place of recruiting missions.

Personally I think this is where ME3 is going to be different from ME1 and ME2. I think we have our team now, and its now time to get the galaxy united against the reapers.

What are your thoughts?

If it involves Shepard as the last of the Spectres uniting the factions to fight the Reaper horde with a set of ancient Spectre treaties, I'm going to BioWare and punching someone in the throat.

I agree. I want to unite my squad mates from the first ME games, and I don't want 50 teammates.

Yeah, done recruiting. I like these people, they all survived including me. I demand an epic story with an epic ending and Shepard alive to relive the memories with his current LI.

Period.

This. We don't need a Dragon Age in Space.

lol I hope its not too similiar to DA's plot. Heck ME2 is similiar to DA's plot just instead of armies you are recruiting specialists. What I don't like about these kind of plots is the storyline tends to be barebone and doesn't progress much from the first mission up until the last.

ME2 seems pretty meaningless if we have to go recruit a completely different squad for ME3. The arc makes sense if ME1 introduces the basic conflict, ME2 fleshes out the cast of characters, and ME3 resolves plot issues. We've already had our recruitment drive, we don't need another imo.

Right, that is what Im saying. I really dont think we need any more squad mates. Lets keep the ones we have from both games and just start uniting the galaxy and end the trilogy loving our favorite LIs and kicking the collective butts of the reapers. I think there is a lot of new gameplay that can be introduces which will break up the similarities of each game, although similiarities are fine, its time for a break from the mold IMO.

You forgot the part where Admiral Xen propositions a way for you to survive the final battle with a dark energy ritual  in which she will give birth to the ancient organic-mech god.

I would much rather spend ME3 with all my surviving squadmates at my back than have even a single new member.

If you're a new player in ME3 all the old bodies are new to you anyway.

I agree in principle. I would like to see a couple of recruitment style missions for your ME1 squad (helping Liara with the shadow broker so she can join your squad, choosing between the Virmire survivor and your new Cerberus squad, and something revolving around Wrex and Grunt maybe), and MAYBE 2 or so new squad members. That way, even if you only had 2 surviving from ME2 (isn't that the minimum?), you would have them, + Liara and Virmire Survivor, + 2 noobs to round out a squad of 6.

^This.^

The only person I'd recruit for my M3 team to add that extra touch of panache would be Bann Teagan.

You cannot hope to defeat the Reapers without the jazz hands.

Psh, if this were the case then my renegade is going into ME3 with only Jacob, Morinth, and Mordin (and maybe Liara and Kaidan)

New squaddies, plz.

I agree, and hope we really move away from recruiting. Also, yes new players will see all of the old characters as new anyway. Personally I truly think this is similar to what BioWare will do and although it is similar to DAO, I dont think it will be like it in any way. It can be done in such a different way than DAO was.

No. I refuse to have anyone on my team with better dancing skills than me.

Yeah, like that. I can definitely do that. Just as long as it is characters that we all have come to know and love, but introducing new characters at this point IMO seems as if it will break immersion for me. Why should we have to keep adding people to our own personal squad rather than help build an army to take on the reapers?

Recruiting has to be done. If it's still a big part in ME3, ME2 as a character-driven story of the trilogy would be rendered useless.

I'd only take Bann Teagan since I figured Cutlass Jack, Pirate of the Seven Galaxies would be busy.

Don't forget freeing Blasto the Spectre from C-Sec jail and then having him sacrifice himself in an attempt to take down Harbringer!

ME2 was a self-contained story about bringing down the Collectors.

We've done that, so, yes, those characters are pretty much expendable and done with. Hence the fact that they can all die. ;)

There will be new squaddies, no worries.

The ME3 noobs can't be given characters whose stories have already begun in the past games. The majority of the squad will be new, and they will follow the familiar "introduction - getting to know - personal mission - romance/friendship" arc, for the benefit of the noobs. I don't doubt some old favorites will return, but those dreaming about simply continuing with the ME2 cast from where the game left off are in for a disappointment in 2 years' time.

The game will begin with a tutorial, during which you will be introduced to the new male and female leads. Just like in the two previous games. There will also be the "Jenkins/Wilson" character, who will die in a very short order. We won't start with the remaining team already recruited and "loyal". Whomever ends up in the team, we will recruit in some manner after the tutorial.

ME1 and ME2 squadies need to make up 90 percent of the squad in ME3. I can understand slotting in a familiar face from ME1 or ME2 as a new squaddie, but no brand spanking new members are necessary. We have our team. We don't need another new squad.
