I think the 'walk' issue has to do with a simple fact- men and women have a different skeletal structure in real life, and this, in real life, makes our walking animations different. Sadly, most of the time, a game has at its base one skeletal rig wired for animations- and uses that for as many characters as it can, male or female. And since the majority of NPCs within a game are male, this skeletal animation rig is set to be male.
Many female-playing-females in many games feel their character 'walks wrong' as a result of this. I know I'd rather my character walks like a female should walk, due to our musculoskeletal build. That's a 'feminine walk', not any 'flouncy prancy blah blah' whatever else that might come to mind with regards to 'walking like a woman'.

THANK YOU!!!! Males and females are built differently, which is why females don't walk like guys. It amazes me how many people think the words, " FemShep should walk like a female" means, " hey, I want FemShep to have hips that sway so hard they touch someone from ten feet away."

I can't help it I'm used to that attitude. Its very previlant on the interwebs. <_< Even more so on gaming boards.

I think they should market some Femshep. Jennifer Hale herself said that we should demand more Femshep. So give us some Femshep, plz?!

Looks like there really was communication problems between different parties of the conversation. No wonder, with so different initial assumptions of each other's motivations. My opinion is simply this: FShep should have just as smooth animation as she did in Mass Effect 1. Currently it's stiff because it's ported directly from the male model that is quite different shape, and as result many movements don't translate perfectly. This should be mended. This does not mean that FShep should move like Bayonetta, just that her animations should be smooth and they are not.

The big twist for ME3 is:

Female: Femshep is not actually female.

Male: TIM is your father.

Fallout 3 has a great walking animation for females. I wish we port it over...

I just watched some Heavy Rain and both the males and females seem to have a sway. The female's sway is far more sexy (and I *believe* their walking animations are the actual actors). Its not that great of a difference either though their is one. (Frankly the main female character you control does have an extremely sexy walk [though as a female I prefer Ethan's. XD] I wouldn't mind her walk being FemShep's. Its not ridculously exaggerated either but the woman isn't a military solider character so that might not be the best example.)

Though I loathe with every fiber of my being the female character's in KOTOR walk. It irked the hell out of me.

Aside from different dialogue, romances, and reactions from certain characters, both genders should play and animate exactly the same

I dunno about you guys, but I find FemShep in ME2 to be quite sexy... except her walking animation. No need to make her all city girly.

My PC is always a female modeled after my wife (when the game allows). Small, athletic, smart, a leader -- but, definitely not a "tank" warrior.

I think the ME2 female Shepard run and walk sucks to high heaven, for example -- looks like a klutz with two left feet.

I'm not concerned about "sexy looking". Rather, I like "athletic".

The female Shepard voice acting was "spot on" in both ME1 and ME2 -- to my way of thinking. I absolutely "felt" it.

are you saying I'm whining?? If you are, I'm not. So many people just don't realize that it offends female Marines they talk about them like they're not females. Female Marines talk about that kinda stuff all the time. Males are naturally stronger than females, eveyone knows that.......at least they should. You would be surprised how many beautiful sexy women people see all the time, and don't even know they're a Marine. Nothing says you can't be sexy and strong at the same time. Also, nothing says a female has to be strong as a male to kick some butt. Shep doesn't use fist anyway,  Shep uses guns and biotic and tech powers. Physical strength has nothing to do with either of those Image IPB

Also, standard genetic augmentations to improve physical strength, stamina, reflexes for marines, and cybernetic augmentation at the Lazarus project. At the point where Shepard can fire the Widow or the  Claymore without breaking either arm, I  think quibbling over a female Shepard being as strong or as intimidating as a male Shepard is just being contrarian and ridiculous.

Shep cannot wield a standard Claymore or Widow gun - only a modified human version.

Female Shepard is fine as she is. She's not a feminine person, the run animation is FINE when you take into account the fact that sprinting makes you catch some air, and differing her dialogue too much is going to make the next game four discs because responses from many NPCs will have to be tailored for both male and female story paths.

And her headbutting a krogan? Don't tell me that wasn't awesome.

I think the main point here is that in ME2, femshep uses the exact same animations as male shep. It just looks off, and very sloppy on Bioware's part. Ajusting the animations on femshep just a bit so it actually looks like she's a female would be good enough, and no, i am not talking about "sexy walking" and other such things - I'm simply talking about the physical differences between a male and female body, which would be noticable in the way someone walks, runs, turns, etc.

No I'm saying if one wants her to be feminine THEN she should be less capable.

...Femininity does not in any way affect military capability, and intimidation is all attitude.  Size means very little.  Gender means even less.

It has  has nothing to do with if she a femine person or not , American game "Claim hyper realism  realism as a style art "   If it trying to look real then it should behave closer to reality .

. Real woman do not walk like men it just a fact of biology has nothing to do with any Puesdo American political correctness . . Don't care how masculine a woman is personality wise , Gun totting whatever.   biologically the shoulders are smaller than the hips and the and the walk cycle are different unless femshepard plans on getting a Futuristic Sex change any time to . Huge issue with American games obbessed with dumping millions of dollars into making a game look real while  animations are crap and feels nothing like real life and move like a Tonky truck . Unless we are  dealing with some bizzare political correct equality here with an emphasis of being afraid of actual woman.

Seems ironic they put all this effort into making codec explaining biology of there alien species yet can't lol make a biologically correct  animation walk cycle .
