Imported Vanguard on Insanity - Weapon/Ammo question

 So I first beat the game with my Vanguard on Normal mode, and took the Assault Rifle because I didn't really understand how to effectively use Charge until late in the game.

Unfortunately, it seems there's no way to change that, even though saved game editing, but I don't really want to start from scratch. I WANT the challenge of starting Insanity at level 26. I also want to play the aggressive, Charge and Shotgun style that is the real Vanguard. 

So my question is, what shotgun do I use since I can't get the Claymore. I'm kinda thinking the Eviserator, but I'm wondering if the Scimitar isn't better because it's faster.

Also, I know the ammo power question is thrown around a lot; but I'm narrowing it some. Is the Scimitar/Eviserator going to be better off with AP, Warp, or Incendiary ammo? I'm leaning towards AP, since Shotguns don't do so hot on armor (by the weapon descriptions) and Incendiary seems to work best with heavy slow shooters (Claymore, Hand Cannon). Barriers, though, make me wonder if Warp ammo isn't all around better with the non-Claymore shotguns due to the faster firing speed.

Evi and the Claymore do x1.25 vs. shields, barriers, and armor



after the 2/5 shotgun damage upgrade, you unlock +50% damage to shields, so it's all great.



If you ask me, go ahead and use Incendiary because it's only 10% less base damage than AP, but it panics organics. Fully upgraded to Inferno it even has a small AoE effect. That way you can pick another Bonus, if you are so inclined.
