hi guys looking for some help with my problem,

Spoliers ahead....

just after the platform fight on the disabled collectorship just after the conversation on the normandy the game crashes to desktop and im left with a me2 has stopped working window, reinstalling the game got me past this until another point not too soon after with the same problem and another reinstall got me past that now its happening after getting in the lift in the tower on the Thane recuitment mission. fed up with reinstalling every time, have updated all drivers and tried a few other methods to get it going to no avail.

any ideas guys?

Same question as STRMTRPR

I have no issues at all, so it might be a hardware problem.

I'm running 7 and never hit this bug.

I have noticed some bizarre graphical anomalies and crashes while messing around with video card settings, so you might start there.

If reinstalling has failed, check hardware and lower video settings.

glad im not the only one in this situation games been running fine up until these crashes on max settings, also tried lowering them to minimum no luck, and aside from this had no other problems with the os.

This sounds silly, but I noticed that the crashes started happening only after I changed my armor to carry more gloss. My machine is fairly strong and the only weak point is the powersupply (and if that was the problem, the whole machine would crash rather than crash to desktop).

Intel quadcore i7

4GB RAM

ATI Radeion HD 5700

The game runs very smoothly until it crashes so I doubt its a question of setting

I have a similar problem. although mine crashes when i try rescuing Garrus or Mordin. Weird cos i finished the game the first time running smoothly. Then when i downloaded the dlc's thats when the game started crashing. Crashes on both win 7 ultimate 32 and 64 bit.

I have reinstalled the game and reformatted my pc as well and now it still crashes.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Intel Quad Core Q8200 2.33Ghz

4GB ram

Nvidia 9600GT

Asus P5Q

Well.. I don't experience any crash at all.. before and after the update and with all the DLCs.

I've got Windows 7 x64 on theese specs:

Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.40 Ghz

4GB DDR2 Ram (from Cell Shock 4-4-4-12 timing)

NVidia GeForce GTX 260

Asus P5N32-E SLI Motherboard

3 hard drives for a total capacity of roughly 2 Tb

Everything updated to the latest WHQL version of the drivers.

So please, try to be more specific, where you can, with the problem and with the hardware/driver setup, I wish I could help you

i'm not as technical as i wish i would be. i checked my drivers though and everything is apparently updated and working properly. was just wondering how many other people are experiencing crashes. oh and i installed NVdia phsyx drivers for 64 bit as i found out mine were for 32 bit. how specific details needed?

system specs

Win7 Home Premium 64bit
AMD quad core Phenom II Black running stock @ 3.4 per
12GB DDR3 1333
EVGA 560Ti

I never had problems with crashing on my Vista Ultimate 32bit. The only thing I have changed is putting ME2 on my Win 7 64bit HD. I am wondering if it is a Win 7 issue.

sorry...forgot the other stuff.... the crashes are random. This is a physical disk install. I can switch over to my Vista Ultimate HD and I get NO crashes....same hardware config and driver exactly both HDs (other than the obvious OS differences and bit OS differences). The only difference is the OS and 32bit Vista and 64bit Win7.

How much grunt does your PSU have? Could be it cant supply enough watts for the game to run at full spec. Try turning the options down and test it out.

I have MORE than enough PSU. I have an 850w that has support to run dual CPUs. That also wouldn't explain why I can run the exact same settings on my Vista HD and never get any crashes. I can also run DA2 maxed out with the hi rez texture pack from BioWare on DX11 without any crashes and that is FAR more taxing than ME2. I guess I will just have to play ME2 on my Vista 32bit HD where it runs smooth.

Win7 has been causing a few more problems with regards to ME2 than Vista/XP has, but there are also others out there who have no problems at all.
Which revision drivers you running with your card, 266.66 (WHQL) or the 267.26 (Beta)? Did you allow DX 9.0c to install when you installed the game, or did you skip it thinking DX10 will do the trick as its is newer? ME2 specifically requires DX9.0c and DX10 isnt backwarsd compatible enough for its liking.
Do you have Kapersky Antivirus loaded on your Win7 machine, or any ASUS software like GamerOSD or SmartDoctor? Those programs have been shown to cause issues with ME2 in the past. Disable or uninstall if they are present.
Also, what other 3rd party apps do you have loaded in your system tray (the row of icons next to the clock)? Could be one of those is causing the conflict.

I don't remember about the DX 9.0c whether I allowed it or not. I am currently using DX11 which I thought was more backwards compatible. I am using the 267.26 Betas because you have to with DA2 to run DX11 correctly in game with the card I have. The only icons I have running are my Norton AV....but that is running on my Vista side as well with no issues. I am not running anything like the Asus stuff or smart doctor. I fire up CPUz occasionally to check stuff, but that doesn't leave processes running. I haven't even overclocked anything....given my hardware, I don't need to so why bother taxing my stuff? I will try the DX 9.0c and see if that solves the issue. Thanks for all of the help.

all the DX files were updated correctly according to microsofts DX web installer. Oh well, I will check from time to time to see if anyone figures it out.

It seemed to be a driver issue with my 560Ti GTX. with the new 270s drivers (and later I assume) a lot of ME2 issues are fixed.

I've got this problem with a pair of Visiontek Radeon 4870's, along with another problem. Have reported these particular bugs to ATI/AMD, but as of yet nothing has been done. The straw that really broke the camel's back is that these 4870's I have, will not allow a fresh install of Windows 7 to be done, I end up having to install Vista 64 first, and then Windows 7 64.

I never had this trouble with a GeForce 9500GT or a GeForce 220GT, it all started when I put in these Visiontek Radeon 4870's.

I have a 1GB MSI GeForce 460GTX sitting in it's box, until I reach Illium, as this happens the most on Illium, and as I said, never happened with a GeForce card on my system. I want to see if it will happen since I set the graphic options to default.

Update, I got rid of this problem by installing the first of two MSI GeForce GTX 460's, and installing the 270.61 drivers. I'm now waiting for the second MSI GeForce GTX 460 to get here, so I can SLI them together.
