If you peek at the itemprps.2da file ... which I finally did ... you find out the answer: nothing.

I suspect one other thing Awakenings may do, aside from all the usual discussion of what's likely to be new, is to finally "awaken" some of these dormant and unimplemented item properties.

Just like 'Weakens Nearby Darkspawn' and 'Interrupts Spellcasting.'

Do not be fooled by false advertising! Those money-grubbing surface dwarves will claim anything to part you with your gold!

Win.

I hope you're right. It's annoying to have these meaningless properties. Frankly I'd be equally happy to see these properties removed completely. I suspect though that neither will happen and we'll continue to see more spurious claims from the dwarves.

They grant a powerful placebo.

...

If you haven't noticed, theres lore about gods in Dragon Age -- but when all comes to all, noone has heard from the maker... exept a dead woman... who might have been possessed by an effing demon for all we know; which just may explain why she just may reappear...

...

I find the lack of effects quite refreshing.

Besides, the effects MAY be hardcoded for their item IDs or something.

BUT who knows. Noone.

Except the developers.

And they are laughing XD

With one difference ... there is a description of what those abilities are supposed to do, with a [Not Implemented] description next to them.

Lucky's description itself says it does nothing.

Now BTW I keep asking, and asked in the Toolset forum, does [Not Implemented] mean an unfinished property which isn't working, or one they hadn't used (yet). It seems there's ongoing debate about this. It seems some of the ones with that description ARE working, and others aren't. =]

BTW ... if you're wondering ... "Weakens Nearby Darkspawn" (Asturian's Might etc.) does not diminish the strength or damage of darkspawn nearby (like I thought) ... it's supposed to debuff darkspawn with buffs in a 5m radius. That's if it's working. Hard to tell, no?

That's why I'm hoping the item system in Awakenings will be a little bit more descriptive ... with item properties that are not so cryptic. Maybe when writing the codex for the item, they could take time out from its long & legendary history to explain what it actually does in concrete terms. Just saying.

As another example, did you know Grand Master and Novice Paralyze Runes have the same chance to trigger? The only diff. is the duration of the paralysis. I didn't know that and you wouldn't be able to tell from the description. (That's something I just found out from another subforum). Oh and BTW the chance is 5%. But stacks (so some people think). So three runes = 15%.

Sounds like real life.
