Alright, now this may seem like a pointless little piece of dialogue to pick at, but I'm a huge Ash fan, and as a result, I find the line completely out of character.

I already know that Chris E'letoile didn't write her role in ME2 (it's obvious that her's and Kaidan's cameos were written by the same person), but who on earth came up with that line? Religous people usually don't use the term "god" to describe people. Image IPB

The first time I watched it, it made me raise my eyebrow. The second time, I shook my head. The third time I cringed. And now I just mute it. It's a ridiculous line, that illustrates the problems of  handing over a character to another writer.

I'm not really looking for a discussion, I'm just voicing my opinion on the matter.

I think Kaidan 'just' refers to Shep as a "ghost" in that sentence, which didn't feel awkward at all.

Although for a Christian it is a sin to mention a person as "A God", since it violates the 1st Commandment.

But in Ash's case, Shepherd has done so much to save the galaxy, can do so much more good, that she will sin to emphasize how great he is.

That's OK, in my opinion.

I think it's really just intended as a figure of speech.

Either that, or she lost her religion.

Yes it was cringe worthy. Do I care? Hardly, the game lost it's appeal way earlier in the game for me.

Kaidan refers to Shep as a legend, then a ghost.

And yeah, Ash's "God" made me laugh, actually. >.>

That is just silly. It is just a figure of speech. She didn't mean LITERALLY. People say that about football players all the time and when was the last time one of those guys blew up a Reaper?! ;)

You mean, the people who are religous that you know wouldn't use that term.

I haven't see that one - ghost as in he doesn't believe its the same shep? i.e. cerberus clone and/or brainwashed?

I thought it a little odd myself, but I think there could be a few explanations, slip of the tongue when really excited being one of them. how many of us live up to our own standards? (the answer is none or you have exceptionally low standards) and a crisis of faith after losing someone you cared about deeply would be out of the questions.

but i think you might be reading a bit too much into this. otherwise, depending on her religion, she probably shouldn't have had sexy time with shep before Illos. I don't think she was meant to be overly devout in any particular religion, just it seems that way because it's something the Ash haters like to jump on and distort.

i actually prefer Ashleys "God" over Kaidans "Legend". I mean come one, they saw Shepard die. For two years they "knew" that he/she was dead. And than they meet again, just after Shepard attacked the Collectors. Coming back from the dead is something commonly associated with a god (or at least a halfgod, or the son of a god)

Well spotted. Indeed doesn't make sense, but what, regarding the ME 1 LIs, does make sense in this game? <_<

I think it is perfectly appropriate, and I know lots of religious people who take the lords name in vain all the time. Clearly she is into sex before marriage, too :P So maybe she isn't a good Christian, so what?

Also, Delan was a ****** and I wish I could have given him to the Collectors in exchange for Lilith.

What's to say that her brand of Christianity, hundreds of years into the future, is anywhere near as strict (either regarding blaspheming or other things) as religions were...in the past? She certainly didn't come across as any sort of bible-basher, and plenty of those people are hypocrites anyway, and lots of religious people would use the term god as hyperbole.

The lines on the Horizon encounter don't make any sense. 'Commander Shepard, first human Spectre, Hero of the Citadel... you're standing in the presence of an X, Delan''

This is -really- what you would say after having not seen your friend/lover for two years?

Those weird lines + the fact that we saw them get stunned (especially when Lillith got taken, who was near them) had me thinking that the Collectors had done something to Ashley and Kaidan. Especially when the Illusive Man says that the Collectors are looking for people related to Shepard.

Yes, I realise that I generalized. But in this case, that generalization would hold true most of the time no matter what part of the world you are in.

It's a fact: most religous people do not use the term to describe a person. Now I realize ithat she's not serious (do you people think I'm a moron?Image IPB Don't answer that.), but it's still annoys me to no end.

Shepard is super Jesus, he defeats evil, saves lives, and comes back from the dead. Except with a nuke launcher.

Is this about Ash being out of character, or do you find that the game are taking your lord's name in vain?.

I thought it made perfect sens what she said. Shepard is a goddamn hero and back from the death.

Tsk tsk, you guys always find something to be picky about.

Yeah, I've had this nagging fear they're going to do something stupid like say KaidAsh got cloned and the real one was liquified before you got there and the copy is free to roam about the universe.

BioWare...don't do this to me.

I agree that it seemed poorly written. What was especially jarring was the way that she walks in, explains to Delan how fantastic Shepard is, and then tells Shepard what a horrible person they've become. I think the worst thing with that scene is how useless Shepard him/herself is - off the top of my head, I can't think of another point in the game where I didn't find the conversation wheel options satisfactory. You'd have thought he could explain the situation to her properly, at least, as opposed to making it seem like Shepard was out and about, but covert?
