I'm feeling a little more reserved about Awakening yes, but there are two characters that have caught my interest,  Anders and Sigrun.

We'll see.    And I don't care what anyone says..not pleased by the prospect of having to drag Ohgren everywhere with me..for the length of the expansion.   LOL

I will miss my dog too, but maybe you're dog is off somewhere with your missing love interest, since it should techcially be loyal to that person now too. I don't know. :)

Near as I can guess my dog ran off to bury my DLC gear somewhere. Image IPB

Hehe thats a funny picture. :)    Maybe he'll come back some day and give you lots of gifts he's dug up.  lol

I appreciate the answers to our concerns. Thank you! However, I'm still disappointed about Dog.

That was a pretty weak answer for dog's whereabouts.  He's "somewhere else"?  Why on earth would he be anywhere else?  If my HN is facing grave danger, her bound-for-life WAR HOUND should be at her side!  There is no logical reason why he would be anywhere else.  I can accept that her friends have scattered to persue their own interests and that she's temporarily left Alistair on the throne with a copy of Kinging for Dummies, but her dog?  He's a dog!  He doesn't have hobbies.  He doesn't have family down south to visit.  He has no personal life aside from my character and to part him from her side is another continuity break in a game where continuity is already seems pretty shaky.

Well its one of those things that should be incredibly obvious I thought. Its hard for a game to be emotionally engaging when your emotions aren't engaged. Once you force the player in this expansion to put aside everything they're emotionally attached to just for the sake of 'killing new stuff' you create a disconnect between their story and the world they live in.
It doesn't mean the expansion is without merit, of course. Just that It shelved an important part of what made Origins so great. Its heart.

That is just so well put, Cutlass Jack.

Dog costs alot of cut-scenes to make...and probably didn't fit their budget for Awakenings,  at least thats what I got from it.

Which reminds me..the nug pet that some folks got ..for Leiliana, I guess that will no longer be in the camp too?

Any more info on how the dead warden will work into the story and any info at all about the possibility of using a dead wardens decisions with an Orlesian Warden would be really really great.

I would think it would make sense that if you died in DAO, then you CAN'T import your character and are forced to play with a new Orlesian Warden....would make the most sense.

I could not agree more - it is this half assing of the choices and connections that the warden made in origins  that really have me soured on this expansion - and the do issue is particularly glaring because he is not only 100% loyal to you but also specifically bred for the type of situation you are getting into.  Not to mention the fact that it makes even less sense if you are playing the human noble origin where he is the family Mabari.

What I would like is to be able to continue playng with the decisions of my original Warden, but use a new Orlesian Warden. I know a lot of people want this, and we've had no real definitive answers about it. Any clarification guys?

I know I want to use my old Warden not an Orlesian. I know it's an odd question/request however I am going to go for it. I am a writer in addition to being a volunteer and a gamer. I was hoping to contact the writers at Dragon Age Origins and give them my Summaries. In my summaries I listed what I was hoping to see. Why I want them is within the summaries. It takes some story line knowledge to know what I was after. I did the same for Mass Effect. I have tried contacting multiple people with no response. Any help that you can provide is appreciated. Thank you if you reply.

You can resurrect your dead warden and play as if nothing ever happened.   Thats what all the controversy was about.    Not that some will want to do that..but others who don't...don't have any options, no history of the heroic warden sacrificing their life to kill the Archdemon.

No story carry-over.    Its either you leave your dead warden dead, and Ultimate Sacrifice is not recognized or referred to AT ALL.    Or you don't care about the plot hole,  "hand-waive" the death ...because somehow your dead warden survived the ordeal ..and keep playing.

The other side of it was that alot of us wished, hoped..wanted..that some sort of world state would carry over into Awakening.

That world state would educate the new warden,  the Orlesian, on what had transpired in Origins, before she/he came along..and became Warden Commander.

But..it seems they are not going to address this at all...they have answered many questions  ..in this thread.

This one Ultimate Sacrifice question has been neatly side-stepped and not answered.

You know, we are talking about Bioware and EA here. They should have no problem spending a little coin to please their fans. Dog can't cost a lot of money compared to creating all new characters! I think my problem here is that they are totally cutting us off from the decisions we make in Origins. We get to know all of our companions and then they are just gone? Some new characters are ok but I am disappointed that only 1 of our original is returning, and Oghren of all people. We forge friendships and romances in DAO, and now they have taken the fun out of that. Why bother playing the original at all at this point. Again I will say it just sounds like an all new game to me. Not an expansion of the game I love.

Well after hearing about no romance, no carryover of DLC and the only companion that comes over is Oghren. All the things I was looking for in the expansion are not included, its hard for me to justify spending $40+ on an expansion nearly the same price as the game. So I'm going to cancel my pre-order and just wait to see the reviews or pick it up when the price gets reduced in a a few months.

I'm thinking about doing the same, I paid for mine in full upfront because I was so excited. Now, not so much. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. But it sounds like 20 hours of killing darkspawn and new enemies and listening to some funny banter of new characters. Not worth 40 bucks to me.

I don't understand complaints like yours. Why do people want to wear the same gear for another 15+ hours? You do realize there will be lots of need armor for all classes? We'll get better staffs, weapons, & armor, why would you want to use the same old stuff that would be really weak in awakening? You'll need better gear since you'll be hitting mid-high level 30's. plus does watching two animated gaem character kiss really mean that much to so many people. I am glad our companions won't change the course too much & we'll get more focus on plot. I understand completely not liking the price but I do not understand so many ppl wanting to pay money for origins. Some seem to want same options same companions & the saem armor & weapons why do you need awakening for that why not keep playing origins????

This is an expansion designed to expand on the story of origins adding more plot & new experiences, why don't you just keep playing origins if you don't want anything to change? I know ppl don't like change but if we keep the same armor, companions, weapons, game options, then you're paying for nothing. We already know all there is to about our companions & we've seen all we can in origins. This is supposed to be a new experience offering new content not selling us a $40 expansion with 80% of the content recycled.

I understand your point but some of this would have sentimental value. How can you just lost Maric's blade? Or Duncan's sword? And people are upset because they have to pay for this added content and then they find out that it won't be supported?!  This is their own OFFICIAL content.! This is an expansion, not a completely new game. If they wanted it to be a new game then they should have made it one. And again I will say that some people enjoy the character depth this game provides, like it or not, the romance is part of Origins, and it seems silly to me to take it out of Origin's expansion. You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but so is everyone else.

The complaint is that old things are not carrying through, things that really should have. Might not bother me so much, but this move made my current favorite character useless in the expansion- he won't function the same without that armor.

Maybe if Bioware got some mods and combined them with the expansion things could be better though, the new items would be so far beyond even the old DLC everyone would buy the expansion anyways- alas that won't happen...Not so much Bioware's fault there, that is more with Microsoft/Sony I think..

I can understand wanting DLC to work that is just a bad move but you don't need your old armor. Bioware already mentioned lots of good loot for sale & in drops early on so your gear will be outdated quickly. As for Romances, I love them in Origins but Origins is a full blown game. This is an expansion adding to the story, romance is not needed b/c this isn't a full game just an expansion. more about plot & content than romance. I will miss the romance & rnadom options to flirt & what not but I'm sure they've added so much loot & new abilities that I won't miss it for very long. If the game keeps a good pace I doubt very many will even think about romance. Plus we have no place for romance. There is a new threat & we are the leader of an order...romance would be selfish at this point in the story.

I disagree with your statement on romances. Even though to be honest, I don't mind- it would be -selfish- to ignore the fact that a lot of other people are upset by this, and losing one of their favorite connections to the original game.

For me, the issue is the DLC items. I would actually be over it in a flash if they added some modder's creations to the game, but that is never going to happen xD
As it stands- there is no armor I've seen in the original game, or so far in the expasion, that will go with this character. Maybe there will be- I can't say for sure yet, but so far I haven't seen any.
