It think Oghren is more deep then that. Sure he is a drunk pervert at times ( most of time ) but if you learn about his past, he was a bright and great warrior, respected among others. After 2 bad years because of Branka changed him badly and made him who he is right now. There is a chance to see an improved Oghren after the epilogue. Sure he can still be a funny character but he is very deep too and he is a honorable warrior. His speech before the last battle show this. It will be good to see Oghren returning his old Warrior Caste self with his funny attitude still stands.

I KNOW there are some that like him..but I can't empathize with him ...he didn't make that kind of impact on me, and lets face it you can't like everyone...with me its a personality clash..over all.

I just don't like leering, belching..men.   Reminds me of the old farts I would encounter in bars...no matter what you did..you got followed and leered at...yuck.

This post outlines the dilemma that the designers have.  Some of the people you like, I could do without.  It's all subjective.  And, because of that, there will always be someone who is unhappy with design decisions.  I would just wait to read the reviews to see if it is your cup of tea.  Personally, I have enjoyed almost every Bioware game I have played and look forward to any new content they will be putting out.  New or otherwise.  Perhaps the new setting/characters will cause you to quickly forget the old ones anyway?

Darling, we are all belching, leering men...every last one of us.  Some just hide it better then others.

I agree with that one. And I understand your point about the characters. But if you are going to totally blow the story, don't call this an expansion. As I said before, slap a new name on it and charge people 60 bucks instead of 40. I'm sure it will be a good game. But as an expansion to DAO I'm upset with what I've heard. And I'm just disapointed about Oghren being the returning character, the other stuff was just me blabbing. Of all the characters I don't know why it had to be him. I personally don't use him. And of course this is only my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

personally I don't mind him, he is someone I could put in a headlock and yank his ears until the little bastard screams uncle! and also appreciated my "pull my finger" jokes at inappropriate moments

Have cancelled my pre-order for this.  May still get it eventually, not sure about it now though so will wait and see.  Disappointed with the carry over (or lack of), seems a bit half-baked.  Not too enthused about what content has been shown so far either.

Don't think I could import my origins warden since at the end she had arranged to go travelling with Leliana and Zevran (and the dog of course).

Only option that I might perhaps play is new character - the Orlesian Warden as then the story still makes sense to me.  However I'd want that to recognise history as it was in my playthrough.  I read the FAQ but can't see an answer to that - If I play a new Orlesian Warden are my origins decisions recognised in terms of who is on the throne, who lived etc.?  Or is there a way to set that?

Oh and is there a way I can get rid of Oghren?  Any one I want to return doesn't and he does...  Meh

Oh I like his jokes just fine. I laughed forever after the dragon turd joke. He was very funny but not the one I would have chosen to continue my adventure with.

Yes this is what I've been saying. So instead of travelling with leliana or zevren, or marrying alistair or anora, or returning to rebuild highever or whatever it is you wind up doing at the end of Origins, you wind up being the grey warden commander anyway? Whats up with that? They have explaining to do thats for sure. Seems to me like the best way to go is the orlesian warden.  And if thats the case, I say yet again, slap a new name on it and call it a game, not an expansion.

I would like to see the reason why Oghren returns in Awakening. Not the overall reason but story reason. What happend to him to join you ? There must be something important.



And he wont be the first companion who join you I think because I saw in the trailer that he is joining Warden after Warden have some companions with him. This means we will have more chance to learn why he is involved.



Sure I would have pick Leliana no question since her epilogue is more suitable and heck I love her !

But without seen the reason I wont judge the decision.

I checked through a couple pages, but just to be sure, there is no reliable word that noble characters who died in Origins will be somehow raised from the dead to return in Awakenings?



I hope that's not the case, because my first and favorite character made the ultimate sacrifice, and I'd really like to give him another go in Awakenings. Though I suppose I could reload a save and let Loghain do it... But that's just not my guy's style.

Here's a question. Is Awakening going to get confused and not recognize that Anora married my PC if I had Alistair kill Loghain and not myself? The ending information doesn't recognize it, as well as it errors and has Alistair standing up like he's king, etc.

I don't know, that is one of my concerns as well. But there is an unofficial patch that gets rid of these dialogue and endgame bugs.
And I never said I didn't like Oghren, I just wouldn't have chosen him to be the 1 character to return.

theres a bug fix out there somewhere to sort that out but i'm not sure about for awakening apparently theres recognition of your choices from dao unless you use an orlesian then it gives you a new background automatically

But how will it work if you married Anora/Alistair? How the heck does the queen become Warden Commander. Or will it just ignore that you married them? Did you get a divorce? I just don't get it. That is why I'm worried. And yes Rivehn I actually use Zevran quite a bit. Oghren not very much. He gets bench time like Sten. A lot of Bench time.

I think if you married Anora, she will replace Alistair and show herself as Queen since she only accept you as Consort not the King. There is some decision can affect the Awakening. Basicly character replacements with similar roles.



US is the issue everyone talking about and they said you can import the character and continue as you never did the sacriface. I dont know how but I think the game will consider it as if you done the ritual with Morrigan.

Zev keeps me laughing so i always use him in the party. Whil sten and oghren are just boring...

You're not queen or king, you're a consort (and that's if the wedding has even occurred by the time Awakening happens). There will always be a ruler on the throne, so there is no issue with the PC leaving to Command. If Cailan, who wasn't even a Warden, can spend however long he was at Ostagar fighting Darkspawn, no one will look askance at you.

Happy that an Orlesian Warden would have a new personal background.  Only logical.  However does the expansion give you any way to specify what your original character did in Ferelden?  In other words can you import your decisions (or recreate them at the start somehow) so that the expansion knows the Ferelden warden has gone off with Leliana (or whatever) but before doing so settled the question of the monarchy in a specific way - and similarly recognises any other significant decision?

Well I guess that depends on if you have the endgame mod, sorry I forgot vanilla DA calls you consort. As long as they recognise the story and how I ended it, then I guess I can live with all the other disapointing things. I think though that they totally blew the sacrifice ending. Who's going to do it now? And I'm not sure what would happen with the Orlesian one. I don't want to do that however because this is an expansion and I want the character I've played with for many hours.

If my power hungry noble with a bastard streak that pales Anoras can NOT be Queen then he gets ditto bugger all too!
