The only time I actually had him in the party was when he WAS PUSHED DOWN MY THROAT because of that psycho "dorf" he married and bla bla bla bla (who cares anyway).
I hate Ohgren, I don't find him funny in the least, I find him rude, crude and a few more names that I can't mention here come to my mind.
I left him rotting in DA:O and I will leave him rotting IF I get this expansion. From the looks of it, I probably will spend my money somewhere else or just wait for the "mod team" to bring the old companions into Awakenings.
It makes no sense that some (those alive/that didn't leave) of them wouldn't accompany you because when you talk to them at the end, you can ask them to continue to travel/adventure/whatever with you and they, for the most part AGREE.
But no... we get stuck with the drunkard "dorf". Yes... because we all love him... right... <_<
More "air time"... don't make me laugh. He'll be as ignored as he was in DA:O (By me at least).
It would have made a lot more sense if there was a mix of old and new companions. For example:
Love Interest + Winne + New companions
This would make sense no?
And from what I saw on the video... what's with all the mages? New fad: the "squishy party"?
Now... for the "no romance" part... IF and oly IF... there's no romances due to the fact that you already have a lover from DA:O (which appears as a cameo... woohoo?)... then... it makes sense.
However, we can start with a new character. What's his/her story? Did he/she leave a "Cameo" behind in Orleans?
Oh wait... Bioware says they wanted to bring "new, shiny things" to us.... "My preciiiioooouuuuusssss"
At any rate... I'll wait, see and check the reviews, especially from the players before I make a decision. For now, this rushed expansion full of bugs only reads one thing to me: Epic Fail.

Alistair (or the Secret Companion) may have made the Ultimate Sacrifice.
If you don't pick up Sten in Lothering, he dies in the darkspawn raid. Ditto for Lelianna. L can also be killed during the Urn storyline (same for Wynne)
Wynne can also be killed during the Tower quest, if you side with the Templars.
Morrigan is pregnant with Maker-knows-what, or off sulking that you turned down her "generous offer".
Zevran (my 1st choice for returning party member; his flirting cracks me up) can be killed at several story points.
Shale (my 2nd choice for returning party member; LOVE her!) is DLC... 'nough said.
Oghren is a "forced recruit" during the Paragon storyline. You have to take him along for that, even if you boot him from the party afterwards. Not sure if he can "die" from your choices in some way (never happened with me; I usually boot his druken behind from my party ASAP due to annoyance), but unless he dies in some way related to the plot that I haven't encountered, he's most likely alive at the end of Origins, whether he's in your party or not. Not true for your other (potential) companions, and BW probably had too many possibilities to account for to bring back any of the others with a reasonable explanation.
This does not explain choosing Oghren over Dog, however. I would much rather have Dog, even if he's only sitting in party camp and not able to be brought on adventures. Just being able to click him and see (Happy Bark!) would have been fine... Oghren I found useless and annoying, so he'll be siting at camp in Awakenings for me, too.

All that's different is the number of recruitable Warriors has reduced from 6 total (4 at a time from the core game, based on story choices, + Shale if you do the SP DLC) down to 2. Yes, there are more Mages *proportionally*, but maybe the question shouldn't be "why so many mages?" but instead, "why so few warriors?"... particularly since I have no interest in dragging Ugh-ren around with me for any length of time. Looks like my first Awakenings character import will be my 2H Warrior warden...

i have already uninstalled the original game and saved game... will i be able to start right from the awakening expansion?
cuz if not... kthxbye
Anyone can answer that. You will need the original installed but you don't need a old save to import. You can start a new Warden right in the new exapnsion.

So what your saying is that in order for me to play on PC (i am playing on xbox now) i would need to get another DA:O to play DA:A on PC?
I thought this was common sense. Why the hell would you get one for the xbox and than get the other for the PC?

Lets say I rented Dragon Age: Origins and gave it back. I really want to play the expansion though so if i buy the expansion will my character still be exportable if i dont have the original?
That is something I want to know too... in some kind of way. So are you installing Awakening on the HDD (talking about the XBox version here) and then need the original game to run it? Like with the Oblivion Add-on's? Or do you simply need the DA:O game saves and run it from the Awakening disc? Can someone explain how it works?
Sorry if this has been already eleborated but I'm not in the mood to read 33 pages for simply that
