Shouldn't Morinth have been stronger than Samara?

Samara tries to defeat her daughter, but she can't and is being overpowered. Then it would make sense for a renegade to at least have a reason to betray Samara for the stronger ally. It would still be a dumb risk, but their would at least be some gain. But there simply is no pro to siding with Morinth.

1. They are equally skilled. There is absolutely no gain in biotic in siding with Morinth.

2. You pretty much have a 99.9999999999999999999999999% guarantee that Samara will keep her word and help you. You have no reason whatsoever to believe Morinth will honor her agreement.

3. Samara did brain wash you or at least try to in order to sex you to death. Morinth just did. Let me repeat, she just got finished trying to set you up to eventually die.

4. You have no weapon or armor and you're going to side with the super biotic who doesn't need a weapon to take you down.

5. Who sides with someone they've know for 10 minutes? And the only thing they really know about said person is that they are addicted to hypnotizing her victims and sexing people to death ... including you if your not good or bad enough.

The very option itself seems like you shouldn't exist. Not without some alternate battle between Samara and Morinth where Morinth is clearly more powerful.

Did I miss something?

If you're renegade, Samara makes it pretty clear that once her oath is done, she hopes you never meet because she will be forced to kill you.

Morinth, meanwhile will only kill you if you sleep with her. So a little less risky for Renegade Shep. Highly stupid for Paragon Shep.

And they're not equally skilled. They have different bonus powers. You might prefer one over the other.

Because Bioware knows that even if someone utterly irredeemable sociopath rapist/serial killer, there's going to be a group to people devoted to trying to make them look not so bad,

I thought the same. There's no in character reason to ever choose Morinth. I wish they made her mission longer where you got to know her better, and perhaps see that she isn't the cold killer that her mother made her out to be.

I'll bet that was originally in the script but got cut due to time/budget. You'll notice that Samara's mission is way shorter than the other ones, with maybe the exception of Thane's.

You do realise that, while Morinth tries to control you, the *only* way you can recruit Morinth is if you prove she *can't* by taking the renegade/paragon option.

If you let her control you Samara auto-kills her. In other words you're perfectly safe.. unless you *choose* to doink the black widow that is.

To answer your question: Morinth is an option so you can min/max your paragon/renegade score.

Puh-lease. Samara will kill me if I'm Renegade? I'd like to see her try.

She couldn't even kill "1 bullet from an ME1 pistol and I'm dead" Nihlus.

And now she hopes she never meets me because she will have to kill me.

If I was Renegade Shepard I would laugh in her face and then make her dance like my Yeoman since she has to do whatever I say per "the code."

because samara is a self-righteous, power-hungry ****? just because she's up front about it doesn't make her any less of a sociopath. many serial killers have internally consistent "codes" they live by. at least with morinth you know what her triggers are.

You do kow that Nihlus was killed because he didn't expect a bullet from a friend right? Samara was fighting Nihlus in a "fair" battle where both knew who the enemy was. Nihlus was killed because he trusted Saren, turned his back on him and got shot in the process.

Saren had the element of surprise to be able to off Nihlus like that, Samara didn't.

You are right, pistols were the best endgame weapon for any class with adrenaline rush. The point is, ONE shot from an ME1 pistol doesn't kill anything except monkeys, gasbags, and shifty looking cows.

And, I ask you this, does jerk Shepard act like I explained or not?

Supposedly its because Samara mentions that she may kill you when released from your service. Its a pretty lame excuse, I had Jack threaten to kill me and I couldn't replace her. Best I could do was to get her killed in the final mission.

You choose Morinth because you don't like how Morinth is given the choice of either imprisonment or death. Just for growing up into an Ardat-Yakshi through no choice of her own. And you don't like the lame reason why her mother wants to kill her.

Morinth is on my squad.

Plus I would be surprised if a weak ass Asari could melt Shep's brain during sex.

If you're truly evil, then Samara may easily be forced to kill you later on by her code.

I'm struggling to think of anything that Shepard can do that is so blatantly evil that Samara would kill him over it. Renegade Shepard is not really evil. Renegade Shepard is just a jerk. It's not like he kills innocent civilians for jollies. You know, unlike Morinth the sociopath. Only a moron would take her over Samara. You've known her for about 15 mintues and she has already tried to kill you. Everything you know about her involves murder for pleasure. To pick her over the warrior monk that has sworn to follow your orders.....is just stupid.

Dominate is cool though. So I picked Morinth once, then reloaded my save.

I agree. I could not think of reason why even renegade Shepard would allow Morinth to live. Only real plot hole that bothered me in the game.

Mainly because Samara was dangerously self-righteous.  Morinth was an evil ****ed up ****, but she wasn't going to try to kill you or endanger the mission before it was completed.  Samara was enough of a zealot to cause problems.

You can get Morinth to join you if you have high enough paragon/renegade, at that point you are too strong for her power adn therefore she CANT betray you, unless you romance her willingly, then you're dead.

She's intriguing and rare. About the only justification I can see.
