I had just gotten out of the shower. I came out with just a towel
around my waist. My buddy was with me as we were heading out to see a
film. He came to my place right after he had gotten off work (he's a
mechanic.) He asked if he could borrow some of my clothes as his
clothes were dingy and oily after a long day at the shop.

Just then I heard my mom outside yelling my name. I looked out through
my second floor apartment window (small towel 'round my waist, upper
body exposed) to see my mom outside. Just as I peeked out the window to
see my mom, my idiot friend leaned over my shoulder to see who was
yelling my name outside.

Mind you, i'm in a quasi bent postion as I'm looking out, and my now
shirtless friend (he was in the middle of changing shirts while this
was happening) is right behind me looking out over my shoulder.

I had no idea what was transpiring just then, until I looked at the
expression on my mom's face. Horrified she was! One of these she gave
me shock ! I heard her say to my dad (who was there too) "OMG! They're
up there naked!!! Naked as God made them!!"

"WTF!" was all I could think of! I then realized that my idiot shirtless friend was right over my shoulder!

That was many years ago! To this day my mom still thinks I'm at least bisexual.

Uh, I would so use that to make fun of my mom once in a while.

But then, I am mean.

OK; let´s assume you were homosexual... so what?

My mother also has tons of issues with supposed choices I did and not that supposed choices I certainly did. In the end, it´s you and your life, not your mom´s.

Excatly. Life is way too short to live by someone else's terms. Life your life the way you want to live it. If you still want to live under someone's rule, get married. Or see Lilith.

The above was a mildly amusing overreaction. Anyway I agree with what my fellow forumites wrote before. Also, if your mom can't accept you're heterosexual after reassuring her, it's her problem.

Yeah, absolutely right! Dont blame yourself and do NOT hide your personal sexual taste!
Live with it! Experience your ... experiences... with your "friend" and this ...kind of... "cloth changing"-game.
It IS your life and you decide what you want and what not.

I have nothing against bisexuals or gays. I know I am not one of those, but as said, I don't have anything against them. They are still human and should be treated like this. My mother however hates gays. Really hates them. Said something along the lines that "they are not following the word of god, and should not exist". What can I say, sometimes she's creepy.

Hilarious. I know what it is like to have to explain something 19 times and still not have mum get it.

Get right to the point, just say you only get a hard on if you see a hot girl.  Sometimes short and simple  answers are the best and easiest to understand.

They are still human...

Just a mild correction as we're going through what's termed inclusion at work, which is unrelated to race, sex etc and more about different departments on site and in the company). However, I think applies to life in general.

There shouldn't be an us and them attitude, this implies a difference or even second-class mentality. The statement is "We're all human."

EDIT: Spelling corrections and a bit more detail of how its applied at work.

At the end of the day the differences between one human and another range from the grand and life defining to the trivial. What someone is attracted to? I honestly can't see how that could ever be justification for hating someone.

Explaining things to your mother is sometimes harder then convince your friends that the wet part on your pants is not pee...

If it was pee, the inside of my pants would be wet, too!
