Hi,
I think I've hit a bug - I set out to do Jacob's loyalty mission. Went to the planet, got the usual 'Anomaly detected' announcement and started scanning, however as I was looking for the ship my scanner located some Element Zero - I launched a probe and then got a popup screen (this was the first time I'd found Element Zero by scanning). Once the screen was gone, the ship no longer showed up on the scanner and the audio of the distress signal is gone so I can't start the mission.
Anyone else hit this? Got any known workarounds?

close the scanner and there will be an option to land on the first screen that shows the planets information

The option to press A should not be grayed out so you can land. Just exit the scanner, NOT exit the orbit and punch A.

I am also having this problem. I found element zero so I sent a probe and now I no longer have the option to find the mission whilst scanning the planet. I have completed various other missions I keep going back and I am still not able to scan for and find the mission start, so there is no option to land to start it off.
Has anyone got a way to get round it?
