They're beyond the point of living 'normal lives' I don't think reproduction in the traditional sense is possible for them any longer... They lack higher cognitive and digestive functions, I highly doubt the reapers left their gonads unaltered as they were playing 'recombine the protheans'... So cloning and cybernetic alteration is the only viable alternative.
