This is hardly a debate. You state things as facts, others refute them or suggest an alternative or agree, and you restate your opinion. A debate has communication between a pair of sides. I tire of you and begin to think you actually are a troll.

But entertaining none the less. I find it funny how people are getting wound up by what i say. I enjoy a good debate as long as it stays a debate. I'm actually enjoying the exchange as long as its mildly civil. To each their own though right?

If you've no retort other than "it's entertaining and I'm winding you up," then can you please skip to the "I TROLED U LOLOLOL" and be done with it? I'd hate to continue humoring you with actual logic if that's the case.

Thats the problem with trolls when they are abundant. You cannot actually say you enjoy the debate without being labeled a troll. Even though i'm here arguing with you in a civil manner ( god forbid right ) i actually find it somewhat stimulating to get other peoples opinions and press them on it. Debating and trolling are two very different things. There's debate teams in school but i've yet to hear of a troll team. Although you can never be sure. Humor me or move on, its your call. I've said my piece to Bioware. Now i'm just talking to you people. I told you before we can agree to disagree.

Uh no. I presented facts yes ( such as the marketing campaign on TV ), I never claimed my opinion was fact. If you disagree thats great but if you do so publicly on forums then expect someone to disagree with you. If you tire of me then move along i could honestly care less what you do. If you want to engage me in more of whats going on here then sure.

NWN showed the same kind of mechanics in the trailer for it. I bought it and loved it. Trailers and info on the games are and can be very misleading. And yeah the choices i picked for review arent the best it seems i agree there. Bioware did also run a large campaign mass marketing this on TV as something else entirely. You people didn't get into this game because a buddy of a buddy told you like its some small indy game. Give me a break already with trying to lay it all on one person when a company cleared targeted more than one audience.

I got the game because I loved BG1 and BG2, and I respect Bioware as a game maker (and I didnt even like NWN or ME). Did their marketing campaign sweep in some people and give them an idea of the game that wasn't realistic? Sure. Isn't that basically what marketing campaigns do (and not just for games)? Sure.

Lets not pretend that you HAVE to be a fan of the BG series to like this game either. Will many of the people who liked BG like this game? Probably. Are there tons of gamers out there who never experienced BG (for whatever reason) who will like this game? Of course! I'm sure there are even people out there who DIDNT like the BG series who will enjoy this game.

My point is that even though they designed it as a spiritual successor to BG, that doesnt mean they wont or shouldn't market it to other people. Should those people do some research into BG after hearing of the game and its close resemblances? If they want the right to come cry about it on the forums, I think so.

You once again completely disregarded your obvious mistake and simply said you think it's "funny that people are getting wound up," so yes, this is the first thing that comes to mind.

Here's my advice, go buy another game. All the negatives you listed I would call features. You should've done more research before you bought it to figure out if you would like it or not.

I agree with you on some points. I think where it went truly wrong is the TV ad and the some of the not too indepth reviews have some people thinking this is like the last games they have made. Really its a huge misunderstanding that is going to cost alot more people money. I'm not saying no one likes the game or that its not successful. I'm saying that the marketing was awful and it sucks in some of the wrong crowd. I'm partly to blame for not waiting for proper reviews i admit yes. The company is also to blame for trying to market it as a action like rpg on TV as well. I already said i made the mistake of buying the game. Nothing more for me to admit to.

Once again you take things completely out of context. Here let me simplify it for you since i seem to need to.

1.
a discussion, as of a public question in an assembly, involving opposing viewpoints: a debate in the Senate on farm price supports.

2.
a formal contest in which the affirmative and negative sides of a proposition are advocated by opposing speakers.

3.
deliberation; consideration.

4.
Archaic. strife; contention.
I see this as a debate. If you see it as more or less then thats your view.

Debate as in the dictionary:

1.
a discussion, as of a public question in an assembly, involving opposing viewpoints: a debate in the Senate on farm price supports.

3.

I disagree. I've seen whole MMORPG's change just due to the voice of people on forums. I don't expect them (bioware) to post here specially in such a loaded thread honestly.

MMORPG's are not single player story based games. Many MMO's are not even recognizable 3 years down the road compared to what they were at release. This is the nature of MMO's, because people need to continue to pay every month to play them, and as such the makers need to be very responsive. Single player games are mostly just patched to fix bugs and add some extra content afterwards, very rarely are they changed in any significant way. Not that they even need to change it. You complain about the party AI being bad, when its already obvious (from discussions in this thread, other threads, and personal experience with the game) that you just didnt learn to use it properly.

When someone really has to stoop to swearing with **** in the middle of the arguement i stop reading. It tells me you have nothing intelligent to say after that point.

Translation: I read the rest of your post, but I don't know how to respond.

Anyways I did experiment with the behaviors drop down last night and found that while this did stop the annoying preference for melee ranged based characters have if you give them a melee weapon, it also produced some other strange results in regards to ranged characters suddenly stopping moving at the last battle point and you only notice they're not there once you're at the next battle point and theres no ranged damage coming in.

This just sums the whole thread up - thanks for the comedy.

I'm taking the fact that you accused me of thinking that the blame is solely on you even when I've had to constantly reiterate that that is not the case, and then didn't acknowledge that mistake out of context? Yes, yes. You're right. About everything.

I can appreciate obstinacy as long as it's backed by a little logic, but honestly you're just ridiculous. Have a nice day.

Except your words make no sense. I placed an expletive into a sentence and you assume I don't know how to carry on a conversation? You enjoy debating so much, yet as soon as I drop an S-bomb all the sudden you have lost interest. Rather convenient.

Mine make no sense to you perhaps because you disagree with me. Thats fine. If everyone agreed with everyone we would be living in one boring world. However..

Bioware isn't going to listen to **** you say. And its not because they dont care or they dont want to make a better game, but because you are not qualified to tell them how to make this game better. It clearly wasn't designed for you, and regardless of how you imagined the game to be from the limited and thoughtless "research" you claim to have done on it, the game came out exactly the way they wanted it. We're all very sorry that you spent money on a game you can't enjoy, but its not because the game is bad, and that is the bottom line. Go whine to their marketing people if you have such a problem with the way it was portrayed in the media, dont waste your time crying to the designers because they made a game targeted at a different type of player and you got fooled by cinematic trailers and a 3rd party review site.

Thats all your opinion and you are welcome to it. Why would i try to debunk your opinion? Its about as useless as you trying to beat my opinion with yours. It won't happen. Its very easy to disregard a post after any kind of swearing is done as rubbish. And i've not lost interest i just have 0 interest in attempting to get you to change your opinion that started off as a flame. To say Bioware isn't listening is pure conjecture. Why would i argue with you about it?

Uh okay, I'll get it on video and put it on Youtube since apparently you don't appear to believe it and think its just trolling.

I'm not sure how this is "stupid" of me. I've got all the characters set to move freely, I set up one of them as ranged...and yes, after two seperate battles the ranged character stopped moving at the site of a previous battle and did not follow the rest of the group.

As stated in the very same post I noticed similar behavior from the Soris NPC in the City Elf origin line when I had him set to aggressive and was using him as a damage sponge for my elf rogue, where he was set to aggressive and would not, at times, even attack things unless they attacked him.

But no worries I do have in game video recording capabilities and instead of spending the day trying to discuss this and wondering who the real trolls are I'll simply vidcap the issues as stated and post them publically and then you can tell me I'm a troll or you can....do what you know you'll do, shut up and act like you didn't get shown to be wrong at all.

Any kind of logic on this forum that isnt quickly followed by blind faith bioware butt kissing and game praising is generally not accepted no matter how well its thought out. Crude as my statement seems it's the repeating factor over and over in posts of anything but praise. This community isn't worth the effort of actually going to any length to prove anything quite frankly. Of course this is just my opinion on the matter but the clutter of people rushing to put anyone down in every thread that doesn't agree is just wrong.

Maybe you would have more luck counting the people if you took your socks off for starters. Secondly no one is telling anyone not to like the game, they are stating an opinion. Don't like it? Don't read it. It's simple. Click the X button on your browser and all these issues will dissapear. Scary but true. Try it. Image IPB

I am playing on normal and finding it too easy ! Just another big whiner post.

Man that's why I hate forums, people don't come here to talk about the game, they come here to whine. Like there isn't enough whining irl (at school/at work/at home) that you guys have to come whine here also !

So let me get this straight. You are whinging about the whiners in a post that you claim you have no interest in because you enjoy the game as it is. There's something wrong with your logic.
