if you lived in the ME universe, would you accept a nonhuman to live the rest of your days with him/her?

I don't see a problem with it at all.

Sure. Asari or Quarian for sure, maybe some others if their personality was /really/ amazing. I'd marry a human who was infertile if I loved them..

Bestiality is not accepted by society because it involves a sapient being engaging in a sexual act with a nonsapient being.  Mutual consent is necessary for a healthy relationship.

Poopoomonster's argument has little to do with consent, however.   It seems more to me that he/she is made uncomfortable by the idea of individuals who look different from each other getting it on.  In the context of two logically capable, sentient creatures, I feel that species borders have little to no ethical significance.

While I can understand that certain relationships portrayed in Mass Effect can make some people uncomfortable, I'm puzzled why they feel it necessary to heap contempt on people with different opinions.

And before anyone tells me I'm spelling it wrong:

Final thought on this. You are the ones who have decided to attach negative stigma to bestiality. I was joking at first but your arguments are starting to bother me. Bestiality is just between 2 different species, cognitive ability is not a factor. The definition is 2 different species doing the do *period* Now if you want webster/congress/anyone you ask on the street if its ok to have sex with another species with scales and a scull plate, or squid arms comming out of their head who is atleast as intelligent as you, to stand between you and love then thats your loss. Personally I go for a Morinth-Samara sandwhich, but no teledeath, standard interface only.

No, it needs a handful of new moderators armed with napalm and in the highest quality HAZMAT suits currently available.

And they'd probably need a couple of tanks. And a big shiny red button.

Well, this is going to sound brutally honest. I don't believe so. It's just that I like to go into a relationship with the attitude that I'm never, ever going to cheat, and since I think about (human) men constantly- deep voice, nice lips, beard stubble, broad shoulders, dear God, I can go on and on- I can't imagine going the rest of my life without kissing, touching, or having sex with one. I could have a deep friendship with a man of an alien species, but he wouldn't fill that need. It's almost like needing a drug fix. Sometimes I just need to immerse myself in the nearness of a man. Pretty simple. Sounds shallow, but it's the truth.

I've been married for 15 years faithfully, so clearly being with one human man for a long period of time is different.

Nothing wrong with that. It's a serious and valid point that's obviously well-considered.

Unlike the "ew no it's bestiality" argument tossed out a couple of pages back.
