Joker, obviously. Military training, and he always stays on the ship anyways*.

In honour of his promotion, he'd even get an 'EDI Kill Switch[tm]'. Of course, all the button would do is switch the coffee down in the mess over to decaf.

*(though I'd love for him to be cured, so he could be a squaddie - ME3 needs more snark!)

EDI does have Reaper tech in her systems, I'm aware of that. And it was probably made from the fruition of The Illusive Man's experiments on Paul Grayson, who he implanted with Reaper tech for vengeance. But as of yet, I'm not concerned. Yes, people will quote me and declare 'famous last words', though I feel like EDI is deserving of XO position.

Still, I'm keeping my vote to Joker.

I like Miranda as XO currently, but I would prefer a man if possible.  Maybe Grunt when he has more experience, if not then maybe Garrus or Mordin.  Depends on them showing the right stuff, Mordin could even be bumped to the top, first choice for candidacy, with Grunt under him

Grunt has great battlefield presence and will definitely be used somewhere if he has any brains.  I like Jacob as a soldier.  Zaeed is a wild man; I think he'd do well at mid level in the command structure.

Honestly? Still Miranda.

Brutally honest, coldly calculating and intelligent but seems to have little ambition for "your job". Garrus is too emotional, Tali is nice but a little to in awe of Shepard.

So likely Miranda or Legion. They dont feel they have to agree with you, ar eintelligent and clearly show the other decision that can be made and why, but dont pester you to follow that route. Is very much a clinical point they bring up for consideration.

The lack of Joker as a recommendation for XO is disconcerting.
Sure, Garrus is awesome... but Joker, I think, is definitely more fit to be XO. Him or EDI.

No way. :)
Obvious reason, he's too busy flying the ship to be thrown in as XO on top of that, like Jacob leaves the Alliance because he's disgruntled. Sure I sympathize and it's not fair, but a good trooper sticks with it until they can prove they fit into a better position, not jump ship and join the rogue silver tongued organisation.

His attitude doesn't command anyone really.. :P No Joker is the ace wise cracking pilot and he fits that role very well.

That would be good, I'm wondering if Mordin trying to find a cure was foreshadowing! It'd be great to bring Joker with you once in a while. Though again because he's the designated pilot this may not happen no matter how cool it would be.

I'm sure Joker will get a cure, between Mordin and Cerberus how could they not?

But I doubt he'll be a squaddie, he loves flying the ship too much and he has no training, unfortunately it'd be completely out of character.

hmm, Doctor Chakwas, purely cos' she is the only Senior crew member who seems to do nothing on ship.. may as well give her something to do. :P

that and she was in the Alliance what 20 years on warships? bound to have learned a thing or too from the CO's and XOs she served with..

I wouldn't like Joker to be a squad mate. It was awesome seeing my one-man-firing squad that is Joker covering me as I ran for the ship, but it would be kind of out of nowhere how he'd magically compete with the best soldiers in the galaxy. Besides, with Joker shooting people, who's going to pilot? Oh right. EDI.
I've rationalized the situation enough to change my vote over the EDI.
Also, for all intents and purposes, Joker is cured. Well, he's better. I have to imagine Joker was implanted by Cerberus to help him walk, albeit with a limp. It'd be interesting to see if he's completely cured, though.

Once we let Joker on the Squad.. we have to let Chakwa on the Squad.. the line has to be drawn somewhere. What is next, the two cooky engineers?

Sure why not. Chakwas can heal, the engineers can technobabble enemies to death, Kelly can be behind Shep go-go dancing. The space hamster will be there on Shep's shoulder shooting hamster-eye-beams...

One word. Liara.

To be fair, she had biotics, which greatly improved her survivability, but she was a bookworm, and handled herself well. Joker would have at least had military theory training, and basic firearms training.

And I'd rather have Joker become a squaddie in ME3 then get some random new soldier-type in ME3. There are worse things that could happen.

They should have him on the squad select screen, but when you select him he de-selects on his own and goes "Are you insane!"

Garrus, 'cause we've got the "fire forged best friends" thing going on. Jacob would be next on the spoke. Tali comes 3rd because, if the rest of the chain is taken out, we probably want someone who's really good at repairing the ship in charge of things.

You want to make a Reaper spawn your XO?

Reaper spawn or no, ut who knows the ship better than EDI? And knows the crew too, I bet - after all, everyone on the ship is in her sight. Always;) Oh, and it's not like EDI will ever leave the ship, so no worries about who to take with you on a mission.

Maybe, but again Joker's the pilot and he wants to be the pilot. Sure EDI could fly the ship (andkillusallahhh!!!) but Joker is the one who really WANTS to, he's the guy who flies the Normandy in at the last minute and saves your ass, not the guy on the ground waiting for it.
