Why did I not get the achievement for helping the Werewolves?

I assume that's not a spoiler title as an achievement says nearly exactly the same thing.

Anyway, I met with the Werewolves and got the guy to come and talk to them, eventually pissing him off enough to make him fight me. But then he decided to stop being a jerk and to lift the curse, but when I got back to the Elven camp, I got the achievement for siding with the elves, when I thought(and thought it was pretty clear) that I sided with the werewolves. Why does this outcome lead to the achievement for the elves?

And what do I have to do to actually get the werewolf achievement? Do I have to kill the elf leader?

I believe you actually need to encourage the werewolves bloodlust and offer to kill all the elves instead of trying to get the guy to "talk".

Any option that ends with cured werewolves counts as siding with the elves. Has to do with what army you end up recruiting. (Cured werewolves means no weres to fight for you.)
